It is a good idea to remove info off pics that you post for security, here is a drag and drop app I use http://www.steelbytes.com/?mid=30
just launch, drag and drop takes a second and done. Freeware. :hump:

Anyone using other apps for this or have internet security tips for peeps?

Nice post. Especially for those using GPS enabled cellphones for pics. There is way more imbedded in the file than the pic itself. You see people post pics with their faces wiped out. Simple to reverse even from a pic downloaded from the net unless the file have been sterilized by software like in Chomps post. Also did you know the FBI can use your cellphone to bug your conversations even when its turned off? Only way to be safe is t take the battery out. But I doubt any of us medical growers have much to worry from the FBI. But know that Big Brother is always watching.........

The best way to make sure you don't get in trouble for posting pics... Is living somewhere where you're allowed to grow.. Or if you can get a permit. I have nothing to worry about.

I am legal also. I worry more about someone finding out(only a select few know, mostly other growers) I grow and being ripped off..............

I am reading a book about hacking right now. I have no skills either, so I look for defensive measures.

Actually a trilogy of novels by Steig Larsson, but the hacking parts are fact based.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest.

On the last 50 pages of the last book and I Haven't read anything so engrossing in a long time. Highly recommend the full set.

I know this is off topic, but most fans of those books don't know about it. They have made the first two of those books into movies in whatever country the author is from (Sweden?) They are subtitled, but really good. There is a Hollywood version in production now that I'm sure will be terrible and PG-13 rated.

In exif data? Yes.

Unless you are bothered by people knowing your focal length or iso settings.

Thanks for the link.

What exactly does this mean- "Photo manipulation software sometimes fails to update the embedded thumbnail after an editing operation, possibly causing the user to inadvertently publish compromising information"

My concern is eliminating all unique signature data that may at some time (perhaps even now) be mined and leave any trail. I live in a non-legal zone, and though I have no large op I do grow the mush as well as ganja. If my camera itself was for any reason compromised it may give an interested party a path that could be exploited. I want as much info to be stripped as possible.
And taking one second to process, I would be foolish not to do so.
