i was out messing with my chickens and turning a little poo into the ground, can't wait for spring to get here. wasn't much to the vegtable garden last season because i didn't get rid of the rabbits soon enough. i'm just stoned and rambling. sometimes it bites living in the woods with no neighbors to visit but i wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. maybe it's time for this 1 horse town to get a coffee bar for folks to socialize.

cleaned the resivoir and put fresh nutrients in. it's been in the 12/12 light cycle since 12/20 and been showing little girl flowers for the last couple of days. this is 1 ppp fem nirvana plant in the closet.

these are just a few papaya, snow white, and ppp cuttings that will have a home out near the hen house this spring.

You are okay .. Mine would get down to 57-58 ish because I use sport coolers and they sat on the cold concrete. It didnt effect anything .. You're good dude just start worrying if it gets lower than 55 ..

now the humidity has been getting out of hand. damn near raining in my closet. i just opened the door and turned on a fan to bring it down. i guess i need to make some sort of exhaust system.

One thing I dont have to worry about in the desert is humidity ..Its always around 40% even have to use a humidifier during veg.. Thats a good way to lower the humidity I always open my grow room door when lights are on to bring in fresh air ..

we've been having some pretty good rains around here and the ground is sopping wet and and putting plenty of humidity in the air so i know it's not going to last. the cool thing about all the rain is we have a green flag for a bonfire party to bring in the new years. my son is in town and i think he and his sisters invited everyone they ever knew to come party. it will be a good time.

indeed. Sounds like a good time hangin with the family. I agree with the beav that it's ok to have low water temps. I've had them that low occasionally and no problems. Like he said I would start to do something at 55. And yeah, an exhaust of some sort would be good for the humidity. Looking good in there.

the humidity is back in the 50's and 60's and all is well. wasn't much of a party, had about 10 people show up and they didn't last long. they thought it was to cold to hang out by a fire so by 10pm the wife and i had an empty house and i was rolling one up. took all the christmas decorations down and i managed to pop my back out while doing it. so the rest of the year has got to be better than what it started.

here are some pretty good shots of this beast.

here's my favorite. this shot is pointed at the 1000hps and the leaves are thick enough to let the camera focus.

here's one of my super hawks

Damn kevin, that plant is a beast. Amazing how you can just point the camera towards the 1k and still get a clear pic. Beautiful.

Nice chicken too. (or whatever that is, haha)

hey jig, thanks for the comments. if it weren't for you i would feel like i was talking to myself in this thread. maybe it needs some direction. lol
it's been a month that this girl has been in 12/12 and today when i opened the door the plant out smelled the chickens. for those that don't know, my closet is in a chicken brooding shack. i've been running the ppm's at 1300 and they're not showing any signs of over feeding. i started a bunch of vegtable seeds for the spring garden and i have a couple of papaya cuttings that will go outside too. i'm ready for spring and some outside growing.

after 4 days of running 1300 ppm's the edge of the leaves were starting to burn slightly so i backed it down to 900. i can't really describe the smell that this girl is putting off, it reminds me of a sweet flower or fruit, like a faint perfume. i'll get some pics up soon.

Sounds nice. I think 900 - 1000 sounds better than 1300. Plus no need to waste nutes, although I know you dont buy the expensive stuff so I guess it doens't so much on cost.

Wish we had scratch and sniff web pages. Someday.

i kicked the ppm's up after reading some of al. b fucts' thread saying if the tap water was at 350 and if general hydro wanted the solution at 950 you would add the 2 together to get your target ppm. al is usually pretty dead on with his advice so i wanted to give it a whirl.

yeah al b is the man. Regarding my own opinion on ppms, I think the minimal that don't have the plants showing deficiencies is the best. Also, one thing you can do with dwc's is to see where the ppm is 'going' to see how hungry the plants are. If the ppms are rising, the plants are drinking more water than using nutes, if the ppms are falling they are doing the opposite. If you have their taste right on, the ppms stays the same.

yeah and i noticed when i'm running a weaker solution the ph seems to be a lot more stable so that would go hand in hand with what you are saying. taking up water and nutrients at the same rate. after this harvest i'm going back to soil until i can find a second water chiller. makes perpetual growing a bitch with just one chiller and i'm taking a 10 day vacation in may and dirt plants can take care of there selves. it's amazing how much less water plants drink when they go from a 1000hps to a couple of 26 watt cfls'. just a cloudy gloomy week.

who else has spring fever? my weekend started by filling 150 jiffy pots with vegtable and flower seeds. then i turned the garden over with a fork, it turned easy because i do my garden in the same section year after year. i amend the soil each year with plenty of rabbit and chicken poop with a side order of compost. then i went and hit a few flea markets trying to find a tiller, looks like i'll be buying a new one. these fools around here think their used shit should be priced as new. i did find 4 sticks of 4" pvc for $10 and some waterers and feeders for the chickens. most of my hens have gone broody and i bet they are sitting over a hundred eggs, just like our plants i want little girl chickens, they are money in the pocket but the boys are meat in the freezer so no waste. today i'll be building a fence and camouflage for my out door ppp and papaya. i'm building a 3' x 3' x 12' box out of chicken wire and i'm going to grow them in that. an outdoor scog!!! i'm hoping it will look more like a hedge.
