The best reference book is Jorge Cervantes' medical grower's bible, there also lots of good ones as well. I actually downloaded dozens of books and dvds from isohunt, maybe try that if you don't mind free pdfs over books.

From that link I can recommend anything by Cervantes, Rosenthal, and/or SeeMoreBuds...

Jorge 's grow bible is an all around good book that has a small charpter on every subject needed to grow. It's the perfect starter or noobie book and I still have one of his orginal copies that I look at every so often for thoughts on the subject at hand
