Im stuck with the desicion i have to make, i have never seen an hps light in action in my entire life (besides street lights but they are up in the sky), so i have no idea of their actual heat output. Right now i have 150w cfl in my closet and NO ventilation (i drilled holes for my venting system yesterday tho) and i have absolutely no heat problems, Im running 70F with 150w of cfl and no ventilation, just 3-4F above room temperature, I want a 250w light but im afraid that it`ll be too hot.
Some details before i continue:
Drobe size: 74" height 19" deep 32" wide (thats in inches) or 6x1.5x2.5 in feet
22.5 Cubic feet
Exhaust: 10inch 110cfm pc fan (the most expensive one they had in the hardware store)
Intake: passive holes and cracks (i`ll put a fan if needed)
So in this setup what do you think is going to be the most adequate? I can't actually buy bigger fan because this is stealth operation, i`ll also use remote ballast.

Im thinking that too but im too paranoid and stuff and if i buy a 250w and it doesnt fit i`ll have no use of it, and its alot of money man. :(

i have the htg 150. 85 with shipping and it works great. i hear 250w isnt a whole lot of heat either, but the 150 is way cheaper

Go with a 250W CMH. They run on a HPS ballast. Little cooler than a HPS too. Full spectrum's good for full grow.

I run a cab about the same size as you. I went with 2 150s. Better coverage, I can adjust the height independantly to best suit the plants. And the 150s were available from hardware and home improvement stores cheap. I throw in a few cfls for spectrum variety. You'll def need to get some ventilation with any HID though.

split the difference, so to speak, keep the 150w of cfl's and add the 150w hps
this let's you get a cheaper setup, and you can subtract out the cfl's a bit at a time if temps go to high

Go with a 400, they cost practically the same as the 250.(from HTG Supply) Hell, even if it pushes the temps to the low 80's, it'd still be worth the extra output, 'cause it'd make up for it, come harvest-time. Seriously though, I'll put another vote in on the 250, 'cause I doubt you'll go for the 400.lol Go with the 250, use your cfls for side-lighting, and now we're talking. :wink:

I use a 400W MH for veg and it does generate a little heat, but not enough to worry about ventilation. I keep a closet door open most of the time the lights are on though. Check out temps below after lights on for 7 hours, keeping in mind that the thermometer is mounted only inches from the warmest part of the ballast. The ladies are loving it!

Whats the difference on the bill and can i use my euro reflector from htg with it?
Do you think the digital ballast will be better?

I didnt even see this but yeah go 400 watts if you can the price is 2 dollar difference so get the 400 and you will love it..
