I have larva on my leaves that look like Fungas Nat magots:shock:.. Very small larva hard to see but detectable with the naked eye when they move. This is my first bug problem so I read Grizzly's post & I'm unsure what they are. They look like fungus Nat Larva but are nowhere to be found on or in the soil, just the leaves. They seem to be few in number, however, I had two males & on 1 some of his balls looked dark inside like they were rotting/spoiling so I chuked him (checked the soil and roots they looked fine) . I believe its the larva who are resposible. Other than the black balls everyone else looks good for now. Sorry no pics but even if I did they wouldn't be seen with my camera.

Im growing in amended promix and use a little Alaska fish
There are 12 plants, 6 a little over a month old & 6 a couple of weeks behind that
(1st noticed the larva on older plants a couple of days ago)
Humidity in the 30's most days Temps 78-80 lights on
I also spray weekly with EJ essential spray

Anyone have an Idea or theory of what they are & how best to combat them????
If more info is needed just ask....PEACE...BsB.

i do beleive it would be some kind of larva other than magots, magots like rotting animal tissue not plant matter so it wont be like fly larva. it could be fruit fly larva. although fruit fly larva like roots to consume. i dont know much about thrips, i have never had them either, might be somthing to look into.

Thanx for the reply Sbomb1! They look like magots, white worm like body black head only smaller. They appear to be some "insect" of some soft in its infant stage I assume. Look alot like the Fungas Gnat Larvae picture only I dont see any in or on the soil. No leaf damage other than heat stress (Curled Edge) so far.
Was thinking a mild soap & water for the moment until I'm sure what they are.

They look like these very small chilling on leaves. They run when disturbed & hide between the blades or under the leaf. Ive seen and killed about a dozen so far. Havent seen any on stem or soil yet. I'm looking through a hand held. I'm gonna have to clean this up quickly

they could be thrip larvae, look and see it you find silvery patches on the leaves. If they are thrips, use Moneterrey Garden insect spray.

Yeah looks like it has shiny spots on it. Almost like it was wet with a syrup or shalac....I'm thinking you hit it on the head Krypto:) I'm gonna regroup & prepair a thrip attack & then a Gnat attack just to be safe.

Word Up..Can I get it @ Lowes, HomeDepot etc? The Hydro/Gardening stores rape with inflated prices.
I get mine at grow stores. It's only about 10 bucks per bottle and made by a company called Safer. There are lots of products to eradicate bugs though. That picture gave me chills. I saw a show about a dude who went into the hospital and his leg looked a lot like that.
