Just got a $272 electric bill. Whats yours, and what do you run?

Yikes. Running 1000 watt MH and 1000 watt HPS. Also running bunches of fans, clone bucket, and some cfls. By this weekend I will be running another 400 watt hps also. These are gonna be some crazy expensive electric bills. I'll need to be selling a couple ounces per month just to make up for the electricity.

I would try to make the rest of your house as energy efficient as possible cause high power bills can get you busted. especially if they aren't paid on time. You mean to say you aren't selling any as it is and your running that much wattage on personal smoke?

It's a fully legal medical grow. I have had a few harvests for personal smoke, but it's not been the greatest quality. I am caregiver for 2 people also, but they aren't relying on my own home grown medicine just yet. This is my first bill since putting both 1000 watters up. I was also running my 400 watt in a different location up until a week ago when I harvested. Now i'm moving the 400 watt hps to the new location and will be growing on a perpetual harvest.

i wish my bill was that low. my bill runs anywhere from 350 to 450 a month. i'm running 1400 watts of light, a water chiller, heater/ac, pumps and fans. the grow op might be an added 50 to 75 a month. one of these days i'll have a more energy efficeint home with better insulation. my neighbor across the street pays even a higher bill, they have a swimming pool and hot tub, and the single guy that lives next door usually has about a $100 light bill. as long as you pay your bill on time they don't care. our heating and a/c use is a bitch here in dallas. i would say that 10 out of the 12 months you have to use it. and i keep my thremostat set at 66 during the winter and 72 during the summer. change to all cfl lighting and get into the habbit of turning stuff off when you're not using it will help. hope this helps

I'm pretty energy efficient. I set my heat at 63*F in the morning for a couple hours, and from 5pm-11pm. While i'm at work or in bed it gets set at 45*F. In the summer I usually set the ac at 80* while i'm there (if I decide to use it at all - usually not). My normal electric bill without the grow op and without the ac is usually under $100.

ya my bill is 360-400 in the winter and my 1400w op accounts for about 160 of that....so you are'nt doing to bad. Electric heat is...expensive.....

My bill before I started growing last winter was about $90/month. Now it is around $260, with 3 600w (I switch bulbs around as needed), and fans, etc. I plan to expand soon though, probably adding 2 1000w. I just got legal too :)

yep you are right on target with your electricity bill, don't worry its not high enough to raise any eyebrows. pay it on time and you will be fine. a friend of mine has a home dialysis machine, a huge tv and keeps her heat at 78*f+, until she got a medical discount her bill was $500+ a month, no she doesn't grow. many people have $250 power bills, there are plenty of reasons to have a bill that high w/o growing. now if your bill is $2000 a month, that might pique some interest. a medical farmer i know runs a 25 light setup in his 4 bedroom house, has had power bills well into the 1000's for years and no one has ever said a thing

Yep...my bill last month was just under $400. Our utility company is way too expensive IMO.

but if your bill is more than the fixed amount dont they make you pay the difference also?

we call it equal billing here, but if you go over you have too pay.
