to water or not to water before harvest, that is the question

Most of what I've been reading in the archives here says to let the medium dry out before cutting down. The RH in my drying area is very low right now (maybe 20-30%) and I'm sure the watering will slow the drying process. Also, I sometimes think my plants look much better after a good watering (seems like the trichs look more enriched if that makes any sense, this is my first grow and I could be totally wrong). So I'm debating if I should cut today (could use water) or water today or tomorrow and cut sunday morning. I'm going to go take a pic of the plant in question for you guys :)

As a rule I always water before I take them down, if you let then dry out they are harder to trim and stressed. So I water a few days before I chop them. I always cut them down before the lights come on.

So how did those lovely plants turn out ND?

I am in finishing the 1st month of my initial grow. So far I have killed 2 of 5 plants before they can become worthy of the name "seedling".

Things I have discovered; plants don't like temps under 60, bag seed suck and even if I check on them hourly, they don't grow any faster.

If you are having trouble I suggest buying a book (I read Jorge Cervantes book fwiw). there is a lot of conflicting info on these sites and it's hard to determine what is right sometimes. That book is really great for getting the basics on every aspect of growing you need. I find RIU is great for more specific questions the book may not delve into.

That is why RIU has a reputation scoring system. If someone like what was posted, or wants to show they agree with something, they give the poster +REP, which builds up their reputation points. If someone is telling you something that sounds like an urban myth or just plain BS, look at the REP rating.... if it is low to non-existant, chances are, they are full of shit....

It doesn't always work that way, some people get their REP just from being funny....

On topic though, I say water, especially if your hummidity is only at 26%. They'll dry out too fast if you don't and you'll lose the cure window. As a rule, I try not to water before harvest, but 26% RH is awful low. I might even be tempted to add humidity to that dry room is the plant itself didn't add enough.

Wow what a great grow. You do have some leaf cupping happening but your chopping in a couple days so it's all good.

Great Job.
Thanks, it's been quite the learning experience but the hard work seems to be paying off :)

yeah, I thought about getting a humidifier running nearby but in the end I think it will work out. I've been practicing my cure on sample buds and it seems to be the hardest part. i'm using the perfect cure technique from icmag if you're familiar with it. I think I should be okay, thanks for all the input, it's appreciated

+ rep to you both : )

Yeah I would check you trich's for sure. They look really really good bro! If this is your first grow Good fucking job! I water mine all the way up until chop if it is their time to be watered. If anything you may have to hang the buds for a lil longer but the longer the cure the better the bud! So if watering makes you cure them out for a lil longer you will win in the end! ;)

The strain of the one I'm about to cut is IPOT (1st pics), sativa dominant and the trichs are starting to turn amber. the other plants are Big Bang, indica dominant and I'm not seeing many ambers at all, kinda backwards I know... (hence the switching to 10/14). I know they need some more time, but 81 days already WTF!

Thanks Howard, this is indeed my first grow (of anything for that matter). Yeah, I already watered the IPOT and will probably chop sunday :hump:
