Starting CFL's - Amazed by what you guys did.....

I too have browned some hairs.

I am not too worried yet, but I am still in veg.
Was going by the "keep the lights as close as possible" method.
Usually 1 inch with my tops in between the bulbs.
2 Fans blowing on the hood, my room temp. is 25*.
Guess I have to much radiant heat or lumens /sq.ft for that idea.
Going to 3-4 inches.

I'm trying to find out if any one has tryed useing bigger badder CFL's.I have tested an 85w CFL that puts out 5500 lums at 5000k.1.5 inches away from the bulb it stayed at under 74 degrees for 1 hour, so i'm thinking that these should work great.this will be my first grow and i'm looking for some feed back from someone that uses CFL's to grow with.I will be trying to grow,white widow,northern lites and cem dawg.Which of these will do the best under CFL's any help will be greatly appicated.

I am happy with the growth of my plants.
Although , when I planted my bagseed , I ripped out all the tall lanky sativa looking seedlings, and kept the shortest stalkiest of the bunch.
I do not see growth in height like some show here with my high powered 6400k.
To be expected for blue spectrum, I know.
I would be almost embarrassed how short they are for their age.
But I will definitely say that my nodes are not stretched yet.
I have to trim my 2 new plants at 4inches just so some light can get inside them.
I assume this is a good thing for me.
or.
I have a deficiency.

Again, I dont know anything. your farther along then I am. But my speculation to this event is that you STARTED flowering cycle for like 24-48 hours, then somehow the plant was getting more than 12 hours of light a day (remember, 15 seconds of light during the night period is enough to continue veg cycle). IF so much of a flash of light goes over all the photoreceptors on your plants during its "night" period , itll tell the plant "it its still summer!! dont flower!!!! "

In conclusion I think you started flowering and shocked it back to veg with too much light...


Please tell me I am wrong and a n00b and Ill just go back to my tiny clones

Dark time HAS TO BE DARK. this is why they tell you you need a light proof area. during your flowering cycle. 15 seconds of light during dark time tells the plants its still day time, theyve just been behind a cloud or something for the last hour.

12 hours of dark = 12 hours of dark
or your veggin homie.

P.s. I know this because people I know use a CFL bulb on a 15 second blast in the middle of the night to keep their mother plants mothering new clones rather than flowering.

thats all they need... 15 seconds of light to tell them to stay vegged. Sorry to respond to my own response... oye.

I have put black tape all over the places light excaped my room is dark when i close the doors ! not even 1 light can pass it !

So now we are on the correct path to buds !

I hope in the next 2 weeks i see results ! If not man, i will just wait untill i move out !

And use HPS !
