This study shows which are the best reflectors to use, vertical has serious flaws, horizontal is more effecient and dutch poots offer the best and most even spread of concentrated light according to this study. Thank god I have poots!!!

PS. This is one study and by no means definitive.
is a poot light like an oval shaped hood where the light and ballast are built in ??? ------>http://www.basementlighting.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?page=1/PROD/HRLP and my parabolic hood is painted titanium white =D

but how much light can they really put down ?? i know vert they can be amoung the plants , or in a small cab , but are they good in a large room ?
Yes a poot is a commercial lamp and mine are the 600's you see from basement lighting, I bought from them. Read the study that I linked, it will answer all your questions on reflectors, it will also show you how inefficient parabolics are.

I cant answer that right now but have ordered 2 from the states which i will put into the poots, all excess light will be reflected down by the reflector, I should be able to tell how efficient they are at that by the temp of the top of the reflector. Who knows but we will see!!

i also have 1 that i dont use , the reflector is feeble and the ballast hanging in the room gives off far to much heat , its very heavy to hang , and i have a simaler study i would like to show you that says the opposite to yours i just need to dig it up , im not saying your wrong im just saying there are more study's... im on it gotta dig it up =D

ps that study clearly states that all lights were placed the same distance from the floor , my parabolic is a clear foot closer than your vert poot light , your study also tells you how much your light diminishes by 1 foot , so its no better in reality ?? am i right ?

This is my last grow under the poots, I have had great success with them. I am not saying they are the best but I love them. And at that price you gotta luv em. The ballast is also really cool too, fantastic and highly recommended.

Got that study??? Be keen to see this. I have friends in Holland who swear by these poots.

im digging it up yeah may take a while , but in this study the hoods are hung at diff levels , anyway just talk until i find it , and yes poot lights are good and the ballast is good quality but it is very heavy and you cant dismiss that you should never have your ballasts in a closed grow enviroment , my ballasts are all hung on a board away from my flower room ?? do you just run 1, ? if not how do you control the temps ???
your own study shows you how much light diminishes by 1 foot and it is clear that paraobolic hoods send less heat downwards so they can be closer to canopy , i agree from your study horizontal hoods put more lumens down in a central area, but if its a foot or more away how is that useful ?? plus the overall area of light put down by my parabolic is larger, so i guess in bigger rooms parabolic has the edge ?? you seem to be dismissing this ...why ??? your replys are awesome my friend i want to get to the bottom of this , im not pro parabolic or nothing like that and i have both i can use , but no 1 is answering my facts correctly ,,thats all =D

Well i dont think they are heavy at all, i can manage a light in one hand so thats not too bad. The heat is really not an issue at all, they feel evry cool to the touch, only slightly warm. as for getting them closer, well even at 30 inches I produce a good crop always, perhaps its in my mind but they seem to really get the light spread well. Although none of this is scientific admittedly. if you notice though jorges study shows the poot still gives 5000+ lumens even at a 4x4 spread, thats pretty good, plus i think his height was 3 foot from the ground.

I see in the other thread you have cheese Exodus from clone, did you get it first hand or was it sent?

also no hurry on the study, just got loads of energy from this taliban hash im toking on
lmao ...taliban hash ahahhaa quality .....
that hurt man im on a no smoke for 2 weeks thing , to prove to someone i dont depend on green lol , i was lying but dont tell her hahaaaa, jeez when u stop smoking ya start dreaming again ...and sweat like a mother !!!
anyways , yh got it first hand from a friend in portugal that moved there from London, he has had the strain for 15 years!!! i have not found another strain i love as much....
and yeah all these lights work , im not saying anyone is right or wrong , i say half the fun is fine tuning and ya know it , man i love growing....
back to the basement lighting poot , i had real temp issues with mine but i was running it with another 600hps so yeah , also i found that most hoods can just be hung on a screw in hook"" i found with that i had to drill and use rawl pluggs to hang it , not an option tho now as im growing in a loft after a recent move ....

Yeah it's funky shit, i bet this person is a female you have the bet with? thankfully i am single again to pursue this. i read in the other thread that the guy was in Portugal, makes sense, all drugs decriminalised and frankly breeding is different to cooking up small crack in the basement.
as for the poots, had 2 of them in a 8x8, well 2x 8x4's stuck together to make the 8x8 but now have a 8x4 for vegging and moms, like a little lab and then 2x 1.2m square tents that are flip flop flower rooms. the poots are even now very manageable in the smaller spaces so I think they are okay, plus i am using 5 inch fans that i showed you on ebay, I still think though a 6 inch is better if you want to change things later, more versatile. My rooms are set now really and i have a great system that produces 600-650g dried per month so will not change any time soon. But you are in the loft and presumably need to shift more air.

i am by no means saying they are the best but are good. other reflectors are better for other situs.

What is the white box in pic 3? A aircon??
yup its an air con unit , i bought a new house , all kitted up with the goverment new building eco pack rules , this included the air con unit , in no way did this sway me into buying the house lol , but its very handy .....im also quite remote so smell is no issue for me , its all intake , i have drilled 3 holes in the air con pipe, that i plug with bungs from my home brewing kit , its wicked i even have a switch in my kitchen that lets me power boost each room with air con , so i can boost said pipe anytime i like =D
