Northern Lights Cabinet Grow..First Time

Hey Wanna,

Yeppers I sure did. And actually my girl has had two 24 hour dark periods. The first was the intial transition to 12/12 and the second came when I reversed her schedule back to lights on during the day. I read the same thing and decided to give it a shot. I see how trichome development came pretty early on, so I am thinking that yes it did effect it somewhat. I also plan on puttign her in the dark for 24-36 hours just before I harvest. Many say that this also boosts last minute resin development. If I can get her dripping before harvest, I will..lol.

Good info arch. Do you know of a good way to get a similar effect without flipping the on/off schedule? I'm guessing 36 hours of dark would be a little too much to jump start flowering, but maybe two extra-short "on" periods with a long "off" period in between would work?

Hey millyy! Thanks and yes it has. The first thing I do each morning is taker her out and stick my face into her and get a big ole whiff. She has a thick coffee smell after sleeping all night. As for room smell. Unless I get into he cabinet, the smell isnt very strong. If I were using any odor control, I would bet that there would be no real noticeable smell.

Coffee smell haha never thought it would smell like that. Also, thats good to know that it isnt tooooo over whelming because if i ever decide to do a real plant (not auto) NL will be my first. PS: I think i've already said that? LOL

Its not like we remember anything you say. Do you prefer indica highs? I like sativa highs myself. I get very sleepy if I smoke a lot so im probably gonna chp my ak48s a week early to get that uplifting high.

I usually do any of my plant work first thing in the morning right after the lights come on. My though is that it gives the plant a whole day to recover from whatever freak thing I did to it..lol. My initial LST was done after watering and an hour or so later. She was young and I didnt want to stress her to much right away so I gave her a chance to wake up have a little break, stretch or whatever then I gave it to her.

I only went 24 hours homer, but I did read a few times that 36 hours had been done with no adverse effects. Hell your girls may go straight to full flower 2 days afterwards..lmao. your going to have to work in 12 hour increments to keep her lighting schedule the same so it is totally up to you. You can either go 12 or 36 hours.

Yeah it smelled like dank coffee. Later in the day it was fresher, but initially it was coffee.

I like my highs straight up just like I drink my Scotch. I will grow a couchlock strain to have for the days when I want to melt into my recliner, but for the most part I like a social laugh my ass off movie watching high. So I would say totally predominant sativa strains will be my preference.

My 12 inch fan turns ff with the lights but my intake and exhaust fans run all of the time. Fresh fresh fresh.

For whatever it's worth I put mine in the dark 4 36 hours when I switched to 12/12 and it had no adverse affects but I can't say that it sped up the transition either cause it still took my ladies a solid 2 weeks b4 they showed sex and that's with 4 different strains. This was my fist time doing that. I can't say it helped any but it definately didn't hurt.

Took some more picture today of my girl. She is really starting to yellow from the bottom up and in some of her leaves. I flushed her yesterday with about 3 gallons of ph water to give her a good flush and rain on her then fed her a full dose of bloom nutes and some more molasses. My soil is a bit acidic so I added a couple of tbsp of dolomite lime to help bring it back up and buffer her for these last few weeks. This yellowing may be normal and I may just be getting first grow jittters because I am used to seeing her so green. What do you all think? A few of the pictures show the yellowing that I am talking about. Many of the lower fan leaves are flat out dying off. I tried the loupe and camera thing again to see of I could get some real close up trich pictures. They still arent that good but hey, at least I tried..lol.

looking magnificent arch!!! the 2nd picture is proof of what an amazing LST job you've done. still can't +rep you, but i will soon lol. the last few pictures are awesome too, such dense colas. in the next couple of weeks they are gonna FATTEN up and become huge. i wouldn't be surprised if you top the 2oz mark. as for yellowing, my opinion is that it's normal at this stage (almost 5 weeks of 12/12) given that most of the energy is being directed toward the buds and that the bottom leaves are barely getting any light at all. i wouldn't worry about it, but maybe others have a different opinion and cal/mag supplement would help. don't know. either way, great bud porn, bro!!

Thanks CD..I will add a small amount of veg nutes next feeding. I will add a little veg nutes in next feed. I feel better now..lol.

Hahah..thanks homer! I could probably set a dinner plate on her and she would almost be level if she could hold it..lol. I have noticed them starting to get a litle thicker...Im excited. I put some dolomite lime in the soil to help buffer the ph and bring ti up a bit. I dont want any lockout going on and since it has cal/mag in it then things should me ok. Molasses actually has more cal/mag than the actual product. Read than on CD's thread. She smells so good..earthy dankity dank. I started using ona gel because the wife came down yesterday and say damn..you can smell her now..lol.

Wow man, that LST is really some kick ass shit, i wanna try that haha but i dont want to sacrafice grow space in my flowering box. Maybe ill get bored and inbetween cycles ill throw a LST'd plant to see how much i produce vr space it takes up.

I hear ya hmk and Thanks man!. I dont remember how big your box is but mines 26"w x 18"d x 24"h. I am sure now that I can grow more in the space I have..lol...how much more I will have to find out. This being my first round had been a big learning experience and I am not even done yet. We have guys like treeZ, CD and micro pulling off mass grows per space. Heck after watching them do it up right...well shit, I think a lot more than I have done is possible. I plan to mull over my next grow while smoking this one..<grins>. I hope to start cloning and just perpetuate the gains from a single seed. I may re-veg this plant if I can. Who knows..been max fun so far.
