Over 500 actual watts of cfl ... Yield ?

I know ppl say u can't get a high yield from cfl all the grows I've seen they just had like 8 small cfls all around, what if u got 2 of those big 200 watt cfls on either side and 2 40 watts on top for like 500 actual watts which is equivalent to like over a 1000 watts, I got one plant 2 weeks into flowering that's already 2 feet tall... Hoping to get 1.5 ounces at least , am I being unrealistic

my last grow with about 400w with cfl i got well over 1.5 ounces with 2 plants under a foot tall.
just take care of the plants and with the light you will be fine

I can't attest to it personally, but some growers on this site have done experiments and gotten some very decent yields on their grows. Most have admitted that their yield was off around 10-25% less, but if I can get three quarters of an ounce instead of an ounce or ounce and a quarter that's good enough for me. Go for it, see what you yield and let us know, the more CFLs the better:leaf::leaf::leaf:

the goal isn't unrealistic, but you need to give more data if you want a better guess. What are the temperatures of the area you are growing in? Any training (lst, topping, etc.)?
With that amount of wattage, and good conditions, you could meet your goal easily. Happy growing :)

no training , first time so just wanted to see it natural. temp with lights on like 82-90 lights off like 72-77. heres a few shots as of today

Yea fan is blowing into closet but not directly on it , should I have one directly on plant, as for nutes it's bloom 1-5-4 every other watering I water like 4 L or 1 gallon every 3-4 days

can you see any light under the canopy? You want light penetration through the leaves to get dense buds. If you have decent penetration you should do ok.

I can attest personally to the fact that large amounts of CFL do not really produce big yields. I understand you guys are looking for smaller amounts to what I wanted. I had 8x 250W 8U HO CFL's, 4x 65K and 4x27K.

I now have 2x 600W HPS in seperate 1.2m sq tents and pull about 700-750g per 4 weeks perpetually.

Yea I have a big 200 watt cfl hanging literally right beside her as well as a 40 watt on top, the 200 watt cfl is like 10 inches long so it lights like the whole side of plant, I'm getting a second 200 watt to go on the opposite side

I used cfl till I got hps, the difference is a lot esp if you have tallish plants. Cfl are more efficient that incandescent, but not near as much as hid lights, they just do not penetrate as well. You can still make a nice personal grow. But if you want a lot, for the same elec bill as 600 watts cfl 600 watts of hps will be like 3x as much light.
Your girls look good!
Good luck with the grow and keep the pics coming.

The way to get the best yield with CFL's is SCROG or SOG. IMO. CFL's are just not efficient with a tall plant, because the penetration is so inferior to HID. Again, just my opinion.

Yea small closet and heat/cost of hid or hps just isn't gonna happen obviously there better but cfl will have to do, I'd be happy with an O though , next time around gonna mess with topping and lst ect as I Said first time so wanted to keep it simple

As far as getting an ounce or more the light isnt the only consideration. You have to take into account the environment and nutrients.
You could give them 2000 watts of hid and poor environment and they wont produce.
What night time and daytime temps, what humidity, and what when are you feeding them.

im not a pro and im using cfls too but i think your temp is too high should be around 78-82 all the time dont know how to put pics up yet but will have some up soon check out my first grow of papaya, lemon skunk (both from nirvana) and three swazi safari bout ready for harvest all but lemon skunk... plus im looking forward to 3+zones from lemon skunk/papaya apiece....

at the end of my first grow with cfls and im planning to get 3+ off lemon skunk and 3+ from papaya and at least 2 apiece from 3 swazi safari clones trying to figure how to post up some pics so people dont think i full of shit and im using 15 42 watt cfls, mylar, and good nutes

DSCI0003.jpgthis one is under 1 300 watt cfl...gonna be over 2 zip no problem
and with other 2 plants in room going to get over 1/4.! thats good for me ..cany aford nor do i have the space for HID.loveing it!!!!

and i agree withbassman(me to ,spector is my peice!) ,the conditions and nutes are important, humidity should be under 50% (20 is grest for budding) and lower temps try for upper 70's low 80's at most..and happy growing!!ill be back to check up on yer grow

How many grams is a zip? I see people overestimating their yields day in day out, whatever your wet yield is you can divide that by 4 and then take another 10% off what is left and then you will have your final weight, a lot less than you expect.

And no offense to anyone here but I grow commercially, I harvest for drying and curing 2 pounds every 4 weeks and always amaze at what it withers down to.
