Topping... Lets debate

Brasmith raised a good point. I have read a little in the posts about topping. What do you think? I would love to hear from the elders as well as my fellow nubies.

Thanks

If you top it it will bush out and cause more buds to grow. Topping plants forces them to stay short and bushy. After toppiong let them veg for another week and change your lights to 12/12. Your plants should just about double in girth and produce better and more bud for you to enjoy.

Thay are ready for flowering now but best to top then flower.

It’s good to avoid “topping” your weed plants if you want them to grow as fast as possible.

Have found it best to top in 3rd or 4th week of vegging and add another week on to the veg period.

from what i've found it depends on the strain. Some may respond well, such as Blueberry (which will not produce max bud growth unless topped), whereas others, such as Chronic, does not.

In both cases the plants will produce two main colas, but they may be two small ones or two big ones depending on strain - if topped once.

Some strains will produce the same amount of bud whether topped or not.

always worth topping one or two of your plants just to see how they respond for future reference.

A couple weeks ago I had asked about topping and you basically said the same thing... lol; and you are right!!

I dont see how it slows the plants down at all, but I do see how it allows the side shutes to catch up to the rest of the plant. I think it is great to do.

I totally recommend topping your plants. I have done this in previous grows and have had nothing but success. Here is a pic of my blueberry topped. It's about 2-3 weeks into flowering. In the second pic there is only 4 females there. If these wern't topped they wouldn't be looking nearly as bushy.

I think it is a great way to utilize your light to its max. You get a nice even canopy. BTW blueberry that is a sweet looking plant. How long till that is mature?

thats 1 there prob another month... hopefully if not a week or 2 more then a month

PS -- I also STRONGLY recommend you tying down your branches. It will allow more light into the center and also a good air flow.. By doing to topping and tying down I can honestly say I probably doubled my yield..

from what I have read yes it is. Extremely picky plant though. I would not recommend this strain to the armature grower.

blueberry can be a bitch to grow if you are new to the grow scene, but worth checking out buzzbery (chatterwok seeds).

is a blueberry x with bubblicious - easy to grow, lovely to smoke, and practically spidermite and disease resistant. Can't get much more help than that really!

here's a pic or two - 4 weeks left to flower. Stink like fuck, also have very prickly stems, just a bit of totally useless info! Unless you're growing outside where it might deter some grazers, eg deer, rabbits!
