I'm posting some pics of my future grow room - looking for advice.
Dimensions are approx 5x3x8.5 (w x d x h).
The plan is to install insulation in the room, then cover that with white visqueen. There's a hole at the bottom right, which leads to the crawlspace around my tub. I'm planning on making a vent hole there, & running ducting to that, sealing the crawlspace off with insulation once set up. There's also some trim pieces around the 2x4 in the middle of the back wall - that holds a shelf. It's about 5'8" off the floor, which is where I'm planning on placing the fan & supplies - it's also where I plan to clone once I've gotten the hang of basic growing. I'm also thinking I want to put a board to be held up by the baseboards in the closet, installing insulation & a heating element to help control the temperature in the room.
Things I'm wondering about are:
- humidity - what's the best way to control this? I'm in the southern US and average humidity on a dry day is something like 70% right now - more in the summer months. I've seen cheaper products that are just dessicant in a bucket - anyone know if those work?
- lighting - right now I've got 4 gro-lux standard spectrum lights I was planning on installing. I'm wondering if I have enough light?
- venting safety - this is more of a safety question than a growing question - there is no sub-floor or anything like that in my home - I'm worried about cutting a hole in the area around the tub - don't want to make it weak & have it give when I'm in the tub . Does anyone know if I'm going to have this problem cutting a hole around the tub as it is now? (I'm including a closer shot of the crawlspace so you can see).
- heating/cooling - any suggestions for the type of heating element. Winters in my area start in Feb and end around late April or early May. I'm assuming for now all I have to worry about is keeping the plants warm. I have no idea what I a good solution is for cooling the room in the summer when temperatures go into the 90's+?
- anything I'm missing?
I appreciate any help you guys can give.
thanks,
J
