Hey Guys,

So I tried LST for the first time. I am in week 4 from seed and my girl is about 5 inches tall. I bent her over a few times and secured her. I tied my counter tie and then adjusted my first bend and she snapped about half way down her stem. The snap is about half way through the stem. I put her straight up again and stuck my scissors in next to her to lean on so it can heal. Was this the right move? is it ruined? what shoul i do/expect?

expect nothing would be my general advice.

Prop her up as well as you can and leave her alone...most heal up just fine...
keep in mind the days knitting the damage may affect your time tables slightly

I was thinking of instead of keeping her propped up straight would it be a good idea to bend her the opposite way (toward the tear) and LST, having her lean on the cut? I am going to LST when she heals anyway. Does this sound like a good idea or no?

you already didn't listen to her once...and she broke.
It happens...the question is, did you learn anything?

if you're comfortable and believe you can listen to her now...by all means.
if it was me....aaaaahhh...yeah...i wouldn't push her around more so soon.
let her alone until she fixed up the wound would be my advice

SHe will be fine.. some ppl do that on purpose as a form of cropping. My BEST mother has a < shape cut missing from her stem as a result of this. SHE FLOURISHED AFTER SHE HEALED.

thanks for the input guys. I will let her heal and then start the LST again. Should I put anything on the cut or rub anything on? As of right now i just am letting it lean on my scissors so it doesnt fall over.

Also does anyone know how long it might take to heal?

no idea here...just try to leave her alone
The more you do now to help, the more she's libel to stress out and do weird stuff...like die.

worst case is everything above the break dies and you get more branches below it, then it hermies or turns out to be male.
not so bad really. Practice is good.

good luck.

As long as the outer skin ( the bark so to speak) isn't ripped up to bad or if she just has a tear where it snapped you will be fine. A lot of people do this.... its called super cropping. You snap the inside of the stem slightly, leaving the outter part of the plant in tact. This actualy allows her to gorow horizontaly a little until she heals and the top turns back up. You can actualy let her stay bent over and tbhis will allow light to penetrate the plant better, in all this might actualy be a good thing for ya! Do you have any pics? I'm subed to see how she turns out. Plus rep for asking for help at the right time !

This happend to the head of my Querkle in week 4 of flower and i bent it back with a tomato cage holding it in place and it DID heal it and after 2 nervous weeks it was healed, just a dark line where the break once was.

it will work, like i said in my case i just had it bent slightly against the area so it touched, then it healed and did just great. Especially if it is veg. It is a very strong hearty plant with great survival traits.
