That is REALLY interesting. I would love to get some of that to help extend the supply
It is a great way to help extend a small supply.

how long does it take to grow?? and can you just pick bits off throughout the season?
From what I have experienced, lemon balm is big enough to be picked at 40-50 days from seed. Pick as much as you like throughout the season. Picking will encourage lemon balm to continue growing. Since it is also a perennial, lemon balm will stay alive year round indoors, providing a constant harvest!

Sounds like it likes the same conditions as MJ and it looks a lot like a squaty catnip plant. Interesting! =)
If you have some extra space between your cannabis plants, lemon balm with flourish in the spaces below the bud canopy

We grow it outside every year...Never tried smoking it but I have put some in tea
Fresh leaves are great as a tea. I just take a handful and let them steep in near boiling water for five minutes. Add sugar and you're good to go. The sedative qualities of Lemon Balm are great.

I've been lucky enough to try some peppermint with some herb. Very unique, I didn't like it as much as smoking with lemon balm.
