Making Hash Oil?

I've been looking this up and I just want to make sure I have the gist right before trying it and ruining it. I have a small tuppaware bowl (2cups maybe?) full of chopped up leaves, stems and some TINY buds that I just figured weren't worth smoking. I've been drying them and they are still a little damp right now. First off, does it matter if the plant matter you plan to use is fully dry? Some sources I've read say it does and some say it doesn't. I've also read that curing the plant matter you want to use makes stronger oil, and then some places says it doesn't matter. I wasn't planning on curing my stuff unless it makes a HUGE difference since it's just trimmings anyways.

Anyhoo, so far in what I've read, you need to use rubbing alcohol (95-99%) or another alcohol of the same percentage (everclear would work, but not preferred?). Before mixing the ingredients, you put the plant matter and alcohol in the freezer. You then take this alcohol and put it in a container with the plant matter (until it's 1-2cm above the plant matter), shake it a LITTLE for 15-30 seconds, then screen out the plant matter. Then double filter it with coffee filters. Then the last step is to evaporate the alcohol so you're left with the "oil". I've read that you can evaporate it quickly by using a heat source, or you can naturally let it evaporate. For safety reasons I'm thinking I'll be going the natural evaporation route because I really don't care if it takes longer...I think my boyfriend would explode the house doing it the other way >_<. Anyhoo, do I have the right concept? Will this work? Any help/comments much appreciated :)

Just dry it out completely. You have to get rid of that water anyway. 95-99% alcohol, everclear will work. However, it will break down the chlorophyll and make your oil greenish and have a plant-matter taste. What you want is to order a product called Hexane. It's used in food processing. It leaves the oil honey gold with a sweet taste. Various places online have it to order.

Never heard of the curing either.

If you use an electric portable stove, you can evaporate it. Just NO flames.

Thanks guys :) glad to know I have it right before trying it out and finding out the hard way I wasn't >_<. Anyhoo, why is it so important the plant matter be fully dry? How does it affect the THC extraction if they're moist? I'm just curious on that point.

I'll keep the Hexane in mind for next time though since I don't want to have to wait for shipping, thank you for that info though :)

the alcohol will extract it out diluting it's concentration and lessen it's extraction speed. Some feel the chlorophyll is less likely to be extracted if it was dried first.
Hexane is a controlled solvent now as it is used in the manufacture of some drug (which I don't remember) Ordering it MAY put you in the laws eye, just sayin'.
I use Naptha (camp stove fuel) instead, no chlorophyll extraction with it.
