5 x 20W, 1200k each. (CFL)

Hey guys, first post and eager to begin growing but I've run into a bump and can't seem to figure out if five 20W CFL bulbs will work to grow one plant? Each bulb has 1200 lumen times that by five = 6000k Would this be all right? I'm also going to grow it in a cardboard box as I don't have time to build a box or buy a tent.

Yes, the 5 should work well for one plant, if...

You are confusing lumen and (k)kelvin which are NOT the same. You do need the 6000k daylight blue spectrum lights for vegetative growth, and when you switch to flowering you will need the warmer red spectrum 2700k. Basically, you need a certain type bulb for growing and another type bulb for flower.:leaf::leaf::leaf:

I'm guessing mate the ones u got are warm 2700k bulbs cause that's all most places like that seem to sell wich is fine for flower cause that's wot u want, but for veg u need 'daylight' which I could not find in wilkinsons, tesco, b&q, wickes and more the only place I could get them is homebase, they sell 18w one's but make sure it states daylight on the box cause it don't say wot Kelvin it is but daylight is 6500k. Peace

it will work just fine my friend. i started with ONE 18 W on two plants then slowly upgraded . and the CFL's you buy in the store is almost allways 2000-2700 Kelvin (good for bloom)

Id use 4 daylights and 1 2700k aparently its good to uae a bit of both
I did not want to confuse so I only mentioned the "Daylight/Bright/White" for vegging and the "Warm/Reading" for flowering. I do a mixture, using the majority type bulb for the stage of growth that I am currently (vegging/flowering). Out of the 16 CFLs I use in my grow I have 2-4 of the other spectrum included. :leaf::leaf::leaf:
