short answer is NOGot a question for the airpot users. If i got some of the 3 litre pots and the 12.5 litre pots could just dig a hole and put the 3 litre pot in the 12.5 litre pot when transplanting, without removing the mesh at the bottom?
Of course you could but why would you want to?Got a question for the airpot users. If i got some of the 3 litre pots and the 12.5 litre pots could just dig a hole and put the 3 litre pot in the 12.5 litre pot when transplanting, without removing the mesh at the bottom?
short answer is NO
your root system would simply stay in the 3L pot
but the airpots can easily be opened for transplanting
see this vid for assembly

disassembly would be simply removing the screws fixtures
quick and simple

Thanks for the info lads, very helpfulYeah unfortunately the roots would not be able to get out of the pot all that well, simply transplant when there is a decent root mass established and you will be fine

I guess if you are doing massive plants it might be worth the trouble, but in that case one should have planted into largest container before you had to worry about removing the pot for transplanting. Obviously the roots will be restricted if they first have to grow through the holes out the sides and deeper and then out. It would be way better to completely remove the pot while transplanting or transplant before it gets so bigHi
Sorry but i have to disagree , I do that exact process and the roots FLY out of the holes in 3ltr pot and take up and spread thru the next pot .
It was a tip from one of the guys here that just seemed to make sense as it cut down on any transplant shock , I decided to look into it and found that it worked really well.
I'm not sure how doing it affected the end result ... But i pulled 8.4 Oz off a plant thats expected yield was 5 oz .
I root my clones then drop them in the 3ltr Airpots to veg for 6-8 weeks .... then i repot into big 15 ltr buckets when i put them into flower .
By the time i come to crop about 8 weeks later ... The 15 ltr bucket is full of roots ... But they are not struggling for room , Seems to work perfect
How do roots that have been pruned by air fly out of the holes?Hi

surely this would happen to the roots too - which can't be good for them...I guess if you are doing massive plants it might be worth the trouble, but in that case one should have planted into largest container before you had to worry about removing the pot for transplanting. It's not rocket science ... the plants veg in the air pot and get air pruned , This allows me to go from clone to ready to flower in the 3ltr air pot..Then when im ready to flower it i just drop it into a half filled bucket and then backfill .I guess if you are doing massive plants it might be worth the trouble, but in that case one should have planted into largest container before you had to worry about removing the pot for transplanting. No one said pruned roots fly out ... More roots grow, And they grow out of all of the holes and the bottom , I will take some shots of the contents of the buckets when i next harvest to give others an insight into how it might look .How do roots that have been pruned by air fly out of the holes?
so the roots only come out of the bottom holes after planting in the bigger pots? not the side holes then?Hi

Heyso the roots only come out of the bottom holes after planting in the bigger pots? not the side holes then?
i really dont see any other way for the roots to come out of the side holes other than the pic its a cone with a hole in the end
would love to see some pics would be great to see how it works cos if it does work would probably give it a try at some point...
For sure Laswell said bro
this should be a learning thread, not "who's got the biggest cahona's" type thing that you see everywhere else on the boards
please keep ur advice frindly guys, we're all in the same boat learning together

my opionion would be that if you was carefull enough to remove the airpot without major damage then she'd go mental if u put it in a larger pot, the root mass in the middle would be intense not sure how it would work with the pot on but like u said " as soon as them holes are covered with coco /soil they become ripe for growing from" roots love humidity and dark so why wouldnt it work
i just think it would be better without the pot constraining the roots, just my opinion though lol
nice didnt know that existed, someone mentioned it before but couldnt find it when i searched for itFound another >>> Airpot Club
