I use t5's myself.I would say the next step up is probably T5 floro tubes. HID would be the next step after that. The cost may not be too different initially, but with HID you are going to need more room, probably some pricier fans to keep things cool, ect.
I wish I lived where you do!! My bills are $100 a month stereo pc and tv..and no heater. We get charged 17.9 cents per Kwh here Smud!I use t5's myself.
In fact I use 4 single bulb fixtures for veg that run around 100 watts altogether. And in my closet I have a 400 watt hps for flower.
My power bill last month was 56 dollars. Total. including my tv, fishtanks, computers, and stereo. Not too bad if you want to spend very little on power.
Good point Dank!I would say the next step up is probably T5 floro tubes. HID would be the next step after that. The cost may not be too different initially, but with HID you are going to need more room, probably some pricier fans to keep things cool, ect.
cheaper, is a matter of watts, but HID lights are the most efficient source, but you have to cool the room down with fans etc..dep on room size and amount of plants will determine which light(s) to get. That and budget fans for the hids like Meezy mentioned. I went from cfl to hid, but I bought fans and ducting for exhaust etc...too. Hid lighting produces the most lumens per watt.So I take it the T5's are alot cheaper to run the HPS lights, by alot or no ???
Yup, as long as the unit is made for t5's.Let me ask you this, could you buy the T5 Bulbs Horticultural Bulbs 4 pack
for $20 on ebay, and put them in a 4 ft lighting unit from home depot or where ever ?
What kinds of spectrums could/should I use?you can add on extra bulbs in the other spectrum from this seller. you can cover flower and veg...good luck!
I think you need the T5 ballast set up. I'm not an expert on this, but I do know the better T5's are the T5 high output or T5HO. I'm not sure if you need a special ballast for this or if you can use a regular T5 one. Meezy?Im talking about if I bought like a cheap $15 2 x 4 Floru with lights and everything, I could just swith out the bulbs? or would it have to sat on the box made for t5 bulbs also.
I guess Im asking how would I know or not, because Im sure they would fit in the walmart frame, but would it blow something up lol?
The majority of the t5's have a built in ballast inside the fixture. But the fixture HAS to be made for t5 lights.I think you need the T5 ballast set up.
