Usually I get a bit annoyed at people who get bothered by other people's choices with breastfeeding (or bottle) and when it should stop. My wife let our son choose when to quit. At 2 it was sporadic, at 3 he wasn't interested any more. Now he's 4, and he's such an independent little guy... he's a kid, not at all like a toddler. It seems really strange to imagine him still breastfeeding. I guess to me, getting off the breast seems like a natural part of a kid's mental/emotional growth. Their move toward independence. My son's a bit like a teen at times: testing boundaries, wanting to do everything on his own. To get to 8 yrs. old and not make that step? Seems like stunted emotional growth or something.
