Looks to be that the leaves are too big for the stalk. If the plant was stressed the leaves would show it by discoloring or curling. You've done the right thing with staking it down. 1st time? :)

first time with cfl. the first bulb blew, got a replacement f.o.c. but for two days it went under a 256 red/blue led affair and the stalk grew, while i was waiting for the replacement cfl bulb. I'll keep it staked then. My poor baby :D

the seedling with the curled up cotyledons are prolly gonna die, but everything else should be ok. justr watch them temps and dont overwater.

I've found that a oscillating fan helps a lot. Just a have it on enough to gently move the plant - it will strengthen up in short order.

gurus. More advice please. ? I started my poor plant on an 18/6 cycle. But I blew two timers. Standard household timers. Well I have ordered a heavy duty timer. Until it arrives though, I have left the cfl on 24/7. The plant is doing well, the stalks already getting stronger. Heres the question...
Can / Should I change from 24/7 (vegging ) back to an 18/6 cycle in about 4 days time when the timer arrives? Would that change stress the plant ? cheers for any advice

Many people veg under 24/7 lighting.
Ok. I did read a thread here where 18/6 light/dark was recommended for vegging, I'm on 24/7 light due to the blown timer and a wait for the heavy duty timer from ebay, but if its going to speed up the vegging stage without harm I'll leave it on 24/7 light. Until ... when lol ? Its a foot high say ?
Its going like jack and the beanstalk at the mo I've never seen anythink like it lol

Leaving the light on 24/7 may speed the veg process a bit - I've heard both theorys (24/0 vs 18/6) and neither seem to have a big edge over the other.
Figure that once you switch over to 12/12 you plants will at least double in height.

okeys. well I was in the cupboard this morning, setting up a proper ( lighweight) chain and hook affair so i can lift the cfl easy with changing height. That beauty is a feminized white widow btw, in peat free compost soil. I read somewhere peat compost can change the sex, so fingers crossed she provides a heap o' THC hehe

I use the decorative chain you can get at the hardware store by the foot - I actually use 4 suspension chains, mostly for leveling but I'm running two 600w fixtures that are siamesed together & the chain is plenty strong to hold 4 or 5 times that weight easily.
I also have run fem'd WW (Dutch Passion) my last 4 or 5 grows - damn I love that stuff, but have decided to branch out into other strains soon.
Good luck my friend.

okeys - and thanks. 600w cfl or sumthink else ? I been enjoying kush for years but at 160 quid an ounce ( 260 dollars / oz ) and a 500 mile round trip to get I decided to buy some seeds and a bag of compost :D . Last time I grew was maybe 10 years ago, again in a cupboard, but under a row of 2 foot flourescent tubes. It was ok but these modern cfl's are something else if these early results are anything to go by. I plumped for dual spectrum cfl btw.

Damn, thats a long trip for weed - I hope you are able to grow what you need now, that is easier, cheaper & much more satisfying.
