i think u should have the ac pointing away from the light, and have an oscillating fan blow the cold air around the girls, THEN gets sucked up into the fan. having the ac go straight into the light would probably waste money because it would always be on, since its only cooling the bulb and being sucked up

the way i hear u should do the CFM of your fan is to find the cubic feet of your growroom(length X width X height). i think u multiply it by 1.5 and thats the CFM u want. u want to be able to clear that room quickly. idk if u want that with the ac though...

Well you need proper air exchange so you want to the room to be exhausted completely within 5min. I usually do it more than 5min. more like 1 or 2 min.

I have a 6in inline fan at 400CFM hooked to one 1000watt. It cools it down more than enough, my temps maybe raise a couple of degrees's but it keeps the light cool enough to keep the room at whatever the temps are. if i put another 1000watt im going to install another 6in fan.

I would use a 4in inline fan for your 600watt. but thats me, ur a/c might run a lot but ull have proper co2 placement, But if you feel fine at running it at like 4 min air echange than go with the lower cfm fan. also you never now until u try, that how i learn i go with the cheaper one and see how that runs for a week or so than if u need a bigger one upgrade and use the ol' fan to upgrade the veg area or something.

I went with the Valuline 171 cfm 4". I plugged it in and I'm thinking it'll do just fine. I also picked up the horti super 600 hps and got eight 5 gallon smartpots.
I hooked up the Hps and it looks bad ass, only took me 15 minutes, I'll do the duct work tomorrow, only gotta run 3 feet. It looks amazing now, but I have no room for my LED's. I'm going to have to get creative & make it work. I'll post pics tomorrow cause lights are out now. Thanks for your advice HotPhyre & Luger187, my grow is almost complete.

Nice get some coat hangers and bend the metal around the led than bring a wire out to support a duct tape it to ur reflector for supplemental lighting

Works slow this morning so the hell, I'll work in my garden.
Heres the girls again, just sprayed them with some liquid light, they'll start bushing up nice here in a few weeks. There looking nice & healthy.

I installed all the new equipment this morning.
I still need to rearrange the led's & clean up the wiring mess.
3-08-11 012.jpg

I mounted the 4'' 171cfm with a bungee cord, absolutely no vibration.
I'm glad I only got the 171 too, the 400 would have been overkill.
The Kessil tied to the power line is temporary, I just dont know where to put them so I have even coverage. I'll figure something out this afternoon.
3-08-11 009.jpg

HotPhyre, thanks for your advice; I'll probably use flexible wire to mount the led's on the outside & have them angled toward the center of the room. If I mount them to the reflector I won't have the coverage I want.

The reflector came with a heat shield, it seems to be helping out.
3-08-11 007.jpg3-08-11 011.jpg3-08-11 008.jpg

I left the top part of the duct open so some of the hot air up top gets exhausted out. The Ionizer is right next to it pumping out O3 & Ionized air so my attic isn't smelling like weed.
3-08-11 010.jpg

I also have a portable swamp cooler outside the room that is really cooling down the temps.
It's been on for an hour & the room is keeping a consistent temp around 75 and Rh around 48. I might not have to buy an AC unit as long as the Rh stays reasonable.
I'll see what the temps & Rh get to when I place the whole swamp cooler in the flower room & close the door for a couple of hours. This will also help out the new noise issue I have. It's not loud but its noticeable if your upstairs. Once you close both doors of the closet & bedroom, you can't hear a damn thing though. I need this if I have company over.
I'll watch things very carefully this week so I can get my op dialed in.

I have Barneys Farm LSD and all ten of Attitudes freebies on the way.
That strain looks very good, & with all the freebies I'll be set for awhile.

I need to get back to work now

I mounted the LED's on each side of the reflector & have them slightly angled inwards. I used some flexible wire to keep them off the reflector so they won't overheat.

Still deciding on what to do with the 200 watt cfl.
The first pic I've got it next to the reflector, and in the 2nd pic, it's on the ground with the plants circled around it.
I might just sell it to my bro so he can grow.
I might keep it as a backup if the HPS ever fails.....what's your opinion?

The girls alil over a month old now.
I did some more training today & I hope they get bushier.

Starburst just beginning to flower on the left.
Starburst 5 weeks into flower on the right.

C99 Hybrid coming along.
3-10-11 002.jpg

The plan:
  1. I'm going to chop the retarded bagseed Ol Scraggly this weekend.
  2. Top & take one clone from the 2 SLH's & 2 OG Kush's that are vegging right now in a week or two.
  3. Then I'll wait for another week or two & send all 4 into flower.
  4. In between I'll prob plant more seeds that should be here by then; I'll get the LSD in soil as soon as they come in.
Overall, what a great fucking day!!!!!!
I got the contract I put a bid in like 3 months ago.
I start next week, so I'm going to be busy as shit.
It's time for a house!!!! I'm so stoked!!!!

Dude i would keep the cfl in the middle of the batch and right down by the top of the pots like you have it. lower bud growth will help out a lot.

Also the LED look perfect thats exactly what i was thinking when i saw ur pics.

Awesome brother about ur bid i hope it all works out great and you make booko bucks!!!!

I was thinking the same thing, but I thought it might be overkill.
I'll head to Lowes soon so I can buy some pvc pipe to make a mount that rests on the floor.
Thanks again brother.

damn OrezO lookin good bro... Keep up the good work + rep
Thanks MoNk0, I appreciate you stopping by

Went down to Lowes and picked up a 3'' pipe, cut it to size & it works perfect as the CFL stand.
3-10-11 013.jpg
Notched a hole in the bottom for the cord
3-10-11 015.jpg
3-10-11 014.jpg

So now I've got:
(1) 600 watt HPS with horti bulb
(1) 200 2700K CFL
2 Kessil purples LED's

It's all good greenlanter, don't worry bout bumpin in, everyones welcome here. I actually have a heat shield on the reflector that works really well, you can't even feel any heat. There also spaced off of the reflector with flexible wire. I checked em, there running normal. They'll be fine, there made really well, and they have little built in fans. Thanks for the input :)

well done then but the intensity of the led is lower than the hps so shoul be placed closer i think , pretty sure but just saying ...

With these it's optimal to keep them about 2 1/2 to 3 feet away from the canopy. They only cast a 2' wide light, so if you keep them too close it turns that 2' into 1'. Ive experimented alot with these & the current distance is the most optimal. It's a really tight light beam, there pretty cool, you should check out there website.

Oreo looking great bud.....i love those led u got i remember when i was questioning the height there at when i first saw them, but results speak for them self

I could def drop em because there like 3 feet away right now, but then that hps light will be blaring on them & thats not happening. Its to damn hot for them below there & it'll also block some of the hps light. Once I chop Ol Scraggly I'll drop the whole setup around a foot. I didn't want to blast em with too much light in the beginning because they'd probably burn. Now its time to get shit cooking, I have other plants on the way.

oh ya i always like to push lights to the limit, my 1000watt i can get about 10in from the tops.

HotPhyre

Nice, I didn't know they could be dropped that low. I'll definently drop it so it's about 2' from the tops.
ya here is a little chart i just found that i found kinda intresting!!!

This is the optimal lighting, lol not heat so of course you need to monitor it and if you hand it to hot of course dont put it this close, also i like to work my way to being as close as possible, i start about 2ft or so and work my way down a couple inches every few days.
