So what do you guys think about Japans recent tsunami and there nuclear plants

BREAKING NEWS: Reactor number ONE at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant has gone into meltdown. The reactor's core is partially melted and continues to degrade. The evacuation radius around the plant is now 12 miles in all directions. Reactor core #3 at the same Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant has just lost coolant power and is now classified as a second national nuclear emergency.

This just keeps getting better.... the death toll is going to be over 100k, easily. 10k in one village alone are all missing. A rare isotope that takes 300 years to degrade is now leaking from the plant, possibly poisoning the nearby land for generations.

Well, I learned some new-news today. I learned that they 'secured the nuclear power plants'. Is that correct information? Just curious because I check the news every single day in the mornings but, I had not checked it when I read this thread.

So, I mean.. did they stop the radiation? Last I heard.. radiation levels within a certain mile radius around the plant.. were 10x times the normal level. Good thing they evacuated all those people. I feel sorry for the ones that ignored it.. and you know there were at least a few people that didn't listen to evacuate. I feel sorry for those souls.. wow. :|

someone better tell Redriver..... he says it ain't happening cause it don't work....

The nuclear problem is far from over. They started pumping sea water into the reactor on Saturday night, local time. This has been called a hail mary pass by some.

Japan, stop fucking with whales and dolphins.

As for the jetstream, at least for the next 2 days it's headed straight for the west coast...

Start watching for stories of continental drift.... Those isotopes are airborne and this planet is spinning... Thank GOD it has to pass through the rest of the world before it reaches our East coast.

Already heard on cnn, japan moved 8' and earths rotation shifted. Iodine pills are going to be distributed in japan. I hope they don't take them...

Shit is hitting the fan big time. Don't say nobody told you, you've been warned.

What's next? Anyone care to guess? Marshall law, guaranteed!

It's been nice knowing you all...

The story is outdated, it's moved more but read:
The 8.9-magnitude earthquake shifted the Earth's rotation axis by about 25 centimetres, which could literally change time.
Only after centuries would a second be lost as each day is shortened by a millionth of a second, according to University of Toronto geology professor Andrew Miall.

''Ten inches [25 centimetres] sounds like quite a lot when you hold a ruler in front of you. But if you think of it in terms of the Earth as a whole, it's absolutely tiny; it's minute,'' he said.
''It's going to make minute changes to the length of a day. It could make very, very tiny changes to the tilt of the Earth, which affects the seasons, but these effects are so small, it'd take very precise satellite navigation to pick it up,'' Mr Miall said.
According to NASA, the redistribution of the Earth's mass would cause the rotation of our planet to increase speed by about 1.6 microseconds. A microsecond is one-millionth of a second.
Meanwhile, Geoscience Australia senior seismologist Dr David Jepsen warned that northern Japan would experience aftershocks that could last months. ''Typically the aftershocks will decrease in magnitude, but they could peak to a magnitude 7,'' he said.
The region has already experienced more than 100 magnitude-5 aftershocks, nearly 20 magnitude-6 aftershocks and one magnitude-7 aftershock.
He said Japan straddles the ''Ring of Fire'', an arc that stretches across the Pacific Ocean, and is home to most of the world's earthquakes.
''The one certainty is that there will be more earthquakes in this region and probably another one as big as

Bye bye japan! atleast we know we won't be the first to go down. Watching the explosion was cool to watch. And the seawater delema they just said if they use it they will never be able to use any of the stuff again..... but if they have a meltdown whats gonna be left how many more ppl are gonna be killed....

Is this the right thread to discuss that maybe the Japanese just got payback from an angry God over WWII? Maybe they had it coming, so to speak.? Thoughts? Plans? fears? Motives?
Are you fucking kidding me? Had it coming? How can anyone population deserve that? You have a fucked logic man.

so these fucking nuts on here really believe some country(probably the US) can create a man made earthquake/tsunami?
That gotta be some of the craziest shit I read here.
Lol it may sound crazy dots, just remember.. Fox, bbc, cnn, etc isnt as independent as you would think..

??? The reactor is INSIDE the containment building. who said the building was destroyed? read much? The roof was blown off of it... wow... bunch of dicks on today...... and you better tell the Japanese authorities seawater won't work, it's a last resort tactic moron... All other options were fail....
i'm not a nuclear engineer, but as it turns out, i'm not wrong..

a nuclear reactor's containment building gets it's roof blown off, these are the kinds of buildings designed to withstand everything but the best uranium tipped armor piercing ammunition in the world...........and you somehow still delude yourself into believing everything's alright...

your politics have blinded something no human should do with out, REASON.......

Do you know how long it takes to arrange disaster relief? Do you recall hurricane katrina?

Then why is this so fast:
http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/03/12/japan.quake/index.html?iref=NS1
Japan plans to dispatch 100,000 members of its Self-Defense Forces to the quake-ravaged region -- double the previous number -- Defense Minister Toshimi Kitazawa said Sunday, according to the Kyodo News Agency.

Japan's government also has made a formal request for U.S.aid, including military support, and full planning for deployment is in effect, with the U.S. military in Japan taking the lead, according to Sgt. Maj. Stephen Valley with U.S. Forces Japan.

The nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan, along with a guided-missile cruiser and destroyer ship, arrived off Japan's coast Sunday morning to support Japanese forces in disaster relief operations, the U.S. Department of Defense said in a statement.

Miracle of miracles.
What did I tell you about marshall law being imposed? Say hello to our happy nuclear aircfaft carrier guided missle cruiser and destroyer they are here to help you.

Psshh whatever that shit's not gonna effect me..I give two shits about this if you want my honest opinion. It is what it is. My aunt and uncle are okay and they still have a residence here in the states, so fuck 'em. I think we should focus on getting this country back on track..and pumping out oil in Montana, North and South Dakota..they said there's so much oil in those parts there's enough to keep the country going for 2,041 years. But it's government bureaucracy at it's finest to make us to continue to buy foreign oil or come up with pointless and wasted alternatives to fossil fuels..it's as if Obama and his group of minions dont want the country to succeed. HA!? did I say that...

I merely pointed out the error in the use of the language and moved on, how many comments or posts are going to be solely dedicated to that? Like i said, the guy can look as smart as he wants to...

And you act like that was all I posted.... get a life dude.... you can't stand someone you've never met..... sounds like a disorder. lol

And your tense of the word 'point' should have been past tense in your context. It's 'pointing out' because of the usage. Yeah, we are the land of the highly uneducated..... ;p
Seems like you have the same problem with punctuation that he has with grammar. People in glass houses....

I don't know two reactors going critical and one in a partial melt-down are considered "secure." Maybe you can expand on that a bit.
