I feel your pain DjRuiner..
I too lost my best friend here fairly recently. Last summer in fact..
My bowl wasn't as old as yours.. though it wasn't far off from being as old.
My bowl was made right in front of me.. I actually got to watch the glass-blower guy make it.
I got to pick what colors I wanted in the swirls and everything else.. even the bowl size.
I had mine for a good solid 11 years. I got it in my senior year of high school, which was back in 99-2000 (I graduated in 2000).
So actually I had it for 12 years.. not 11.
Long story short.. I was smoking in my backyard by the pool one summer afternoon. I was sitting in one of my patio chairs that surround one of those umbrella tables you know? The ones with the huge ass umbrella that comes out the middle of the table..
anyhow, I had just finished my first bowl (wake-N-bake) so I turned the bowl upside down to dump out the remaining ashes left behind from the first bowl. I always hit the bottom of the bowl.. against the palm of my hand to dump out the ashes like I always have done. Well, I guess I didn't have a good grip on it with my other hand... that I was holding it in. So I'm sitting there.. hitting the pipe with the back of my hand to clean it out.. then suddenly.. -*WHAP*, PUHDING PAHDANG.. the bowl bounced off my kneecap onto the cobblestone below my feet.
Amazingly.. the bowl didn't shatter into a million pieces... it broke into about 5 different pieces. I tried super-gluing the bowl back together since it wasn't really all that bad of a break.. but I had one single piece that was missing.. and it just happened to be a vital piece. So, without that piece.. I wouldn't be able to save my bowl.. and sure enough.. after 3 hours of searching on my hands in knees.. I gave up.. and buried the remaining pieces that I had. I mean, I probably could have found the missing piece.. but it was so small.. plus it was lost in the sea of cobblestone concrete with all different colored rocks.. so it made it almost impossible to find a colored piece of glass.
sorry for rambling.. my morning wake-n-bakes usually do this to me.
anyhow, I feel your pain bro. Time to move on though.. get yourself a new bowl.
peace.
