WHAT's Cost of 18 square meter grow?

Hey, so in a years time from now, I am going to be starting a grow in an area of about 18 meters squared. I want to be able to know everything possible before hand and have no doubts.

My question to you guys is what approximate cost will it be for an 18 square meter [indoor] garden?

Would I best be going with soil, hydro, aero? I want to yield minimum 600g PER square-meter from my plants, and hopefully around 700+g/square-meter, if possible. I want the fastest and highest yielding strains. Approximately how many plants do you think I could fit in this space, also? Like around 78-94? Way more?

*Costs refer to: Lights, pots/soil, carbon filter, any wood to make the room, or tents to create a giant room; and/or: any other equipment needed if it's hydro or aero setup you're recommending.

When it comes to things I'm looking for, I've had difficulty finding anything to accommodate my size. Would you guys recommend using wood/fiber board to make a room, or should I use a few tents combined together? I'm looking for the best solution for both cost and smell-killing.

Now, I don't as much care about the number of plants I can fit. I'm just wondering what would be the most cost-effective setup. I don't want to get people making a big deal about the size of space I'm using. I'm simply asking what sort of revenue I would be spending to make this happen. I want a few different comparisons, so I have a goal of money to save up for in order to make my grow happen.

Thanks for all help, and please post links if you can. I will have time, and I'm not a dumb guy. I know growing isn't the hardest thing under the sun, but I also know it's not the easiest.

sounds like you need to start smaller and get it figured out first.
Don't be a post-whore. I clearly said:

I specified this for the very reason that I'm going to start big, but I'm going to have ALL of my research and knowledge done by the time I start.

A solid 5 hours a day to commit to it or more before I even grow will ensure I do fine.

Sorry didn't mean to be a whore. Was just pointing out it's better to frag a small grow and start over then start big and loose your ass. I'm sure someone will tell you how to spend alot of money. Good luck, Hope to see a great crop.

It's fine. But I'm not going to screw things up. I mean I am going to have 2 people (me and someone else) caring for the plant. We'll have time to ensure it's going well, and that if there are any problems like lack of nutes we can fix them immediately.

I just want people to understand with my thread I'm being serious and just want serious responses. I mean, it's a plant. After a year of research, sure it will be somewhat on the big side, but if you spend time each day ensuring it goes well, I don't see why I would screw it up. But, thanks for the wishes.

Will do video grow-journal with HD camcorder next year when I start.

how are you with chemistry? 600g a meter sounds like a big thing to do. Sorry if I'm off a little I don't do metrics. I gave my girls 4 foot spacing and got 400g per plant outside.

Well, I'm growing indoors, which is a more controlled environment. And, I'm going to use strains with high yields. Theres a strain with an expected yield: of 650-750g indoors (called Critical Mass).

I've researched a lot on the various strains there are. I'd grow that one for the most part, and try out a couple other strains. But, mostly, I'd be using super high yielding strains.

cool. we had 6 strains going. I've never seen any strain grow better inside then outside. I'm doing a little of both this year. it's a inside-out grow haha green house. found the fall is a little short for flowering. I asked about the chem cuz you need a little for hyrdo. I played with it and found it not to be my bag. went back to soil.Tried coco liked it ok it's kind of a ez hydro. But I have lots of room outside and grow legal. I'll butt out of your thread now Good luck.

You are going to need a shit load of lights for a grow area that size. I'd say you'd need 1 600watt HPS per square metre. That's over 300 lights. The average 600 watt HPS costs about £90. That's £27,000 just for your lights. Depending on how many plants you are planting per square metre you could need as many as 5000 pots, not cheap. You are going to require lots of ventilation. I only grow in a 1.2 square metre space, but based on the advice I was given you'll need at least one 8" vent per square metre. If you went Hydro the cost would be astronomical. Do you have a budget?

This will be one expensive venture. Can't fault you!! It'll be money well spent if you average 600grams per square metre. 194,400 grams or 6942 Oz's... Nice like!

he said 18 square metres so it wouldnt be 300 lights it would be 18 lights but proberly less than that with each light overlapping each other, we done a 12 square metre with 7 lights (600) and got atleast 3oz per plant (dry) with 30 plants in room, just make sure the light off crosses over onto the next one and turn the plants every day half a turn. we let them grow to between 22-25 inches b4 flicking them to 12/12, the heat was the hardest bit to get right with with only 7 lights so you will def need a few big exhaust fans(2-3) and a big intake. good luck m8 there is a lot of work in that space but youwill get there, its not rocket science.

p.s you'll need 1 big carbon filter aswell the smell off 30 plants (white rhino) was bad :-P

i wouldnt start big if i was you...not on the first run anyways.
but the expenses will be small to none if you start big though....either that or you'll end up loosin all your money on the first go

Jesus dude you scared the fuck out of me for a second, before my common sense settled in.

Thanks a ton for that advice. So, do you start off at 18/6 then, I assume?

And also, do you know how much I might be paying? Like, $2500 approx for lights then? And pots, etc? My plan is to start with soil, because while I could manage hydro, I'd prefer starting out with something that's easier to do (especially for a big grow) and also a bit cheaper. I'm just trying to wager how much I need to save for growing next year. I know it will be a few thousand. Could I get away with 5K or 6k, maybe bit less?

I figured I'd need a massive carbon filter, that's for sure. However, I'm not 100% sure how big it would need to be. I found one on this site that was supposed to be decent. Would like the $799 here work: http://www.westcoastgrowers.com/carbonfilters.htm? But yeah thanks for all your help. White Rhino is actually one of the strains I plan to plant! ;) I'll check the topic after I wake up (off to bed).

Appreciate everyone's responses.

Haha... I'll bet it scared you!! I was thinking of an 18 metre X 18 metre space! D'oh...

hi m8 yes we done 18/6 on the veg took about 4-5 weeks to get them to 25 inches, all we used during veg was maxi crop sea weed extract at every other water, as for the light we just added them as needed, so we didnt have to hand out for 7 in one go, we had 5 different size pots from small up to the buckets builders use for mixing or mop bucket size, you change pots about once a week and buy the time you get to the last one, houestly even with 30 it was a lot of work and soil to swap pots lol but its worthit at the end. on way out but will explain abit more about what we did when i get back

Ah, well I'm sure my work will be cut out for me. My friend would be helping me out, so that will make it a bit easier. I can't wait to hear more when you get back! :)

Man! That would be A LOT of weed!! Yeah I don't particularily plan on having that much. But to whoever could manage it:  kudos to them.

If your going to do a grow that big your going to need some mighty big mother plants, unless your mister money bags and are going to wholesale buy some fem seeds.

I am going to do a combo of both Richie. I am spending a year saving up...

IDK man, I didn't create this thread for criticism, but rather for answers. Don't really appreciate being shown disrespect by people. Not saying you were totally, but that's sorta the way I take it.
