how important is air?

i completed my first grow. i didnt yield shit. i used fox farms nutrient schedule, a 4x4 grow tent with a 1000w lamp in it. the only thing i can think is that i wasnt exchanging the air often enough. is exchanging air twice a week ok for 8 4 foot tall plants in an enclosed room, or would i have yielded more if i had my ventilation dialed in?

well i have a workshop that is pretty air tight, and my tent is inside of that. i hook my vortex up to ducting once or twice a week and blow the air outside (under the door so nobody gets wise) to get fresh air in. i notice my air gets humid fast, so i run a dehumidifier. my lights arent on, and i dont know what id take a picture of.

well i think plants need fresh air all the time,1-2 time a week is not good imo,and pics are better to read than a growers post sometimes,
not jus plants, but the enviorment ect...

ok my lights are on. heres my tent... my carbon filter sits inside.

the vortex connects to duct and i duct it outside once or twice a week...

i usually leave a crack in the door of the tent being that the room is enclosed and it helps with circulation in the tent.

so you turn on that inline fan 2x a week?
if so, theres your problem, run that fan 24/7.
what happens is that the plants will make oxygen and when its not exhausted they sit in a pool of useless oxygen.
would you like to sit in your own stank for days on end? :P
if you live in that room, your breathing (exchanging oxygen to C02) will help tremendously.
but i would recommend leaving a window cracked open or something.
good luck

i have the fan on 12 hours a day to cool my hood. theres a carbon filter on the other side of it. i would love to crack a window, but its way too cold here.

do your plants show signs of rooster claw or leaf cupping from the sides down
if not then you might be fine. you may want to vent at night aswell because plants still need air exchange during night time.
i always try to read the plants.

hells bells guv, when the lights are on the plants breathe in co2 and breathe out air, when the lights are off they breathe in air and breathe out co2, so without a constant air supply in the tent and out again they are getting all confused, it wouldnt have to be much of a fan but you would have to leave it running all the time, that is presuming you are not having any heat problems from your light. so best to work out your tent total area say 4 x 4 x 2 meters thats 16 cubic meters so you need a fan that will empty one third of that area (say 5 cubic meters) a minute every hour so you need a fan that will run at 5 x 60 = 300 so you need a fan that will empty 300 square meters an hour, presuming you are using a carbon filter your exhaust fan would need to be about 500 square meters an hour, so how does that grab you. and that will help sort any heat problems too if the air going in is nice and cool and fresh. if your tent is 1 metre x 1 metre x 2 metres then 150 cubic metre an hour fan.

dude you want fresh air in that ten about every two minutes. Get some intake and exhaust fans.

way to complicate the shit out of an easy question

sorry bro.
your wrong. plants always take in C02. plants always exhale oxygen. in general fans are measured in CFM (not meters)
i run a 5x5 Jardin with a 340 CFM exhaust and all is well.

Nubby Tubbs- i would run that fan on 24 for constant air exchange.

i think you better go back to horticultural college my friend and look up a proper book that will tell you facts about our planet and how we and plants survive together, and do not look in to too much that you will read on a canabis forum. here is a link for you clam digger and pay special attention to the little blue box with red writing in.

http://www.saburchill.com/chapters/chap0025.html

for those of you who cant be bothered here is the quote " remember that a green plant respires (breathes) all the time day and night, a green plant photosynthesizes (exchanges co2 for air) only in the presence of sunlight".

wtf is complicated about it it is a simple mathematical equation, and i gave him the final answer. he needs a fan that runs at 300 cubic metres an hour and an exhaust fan at 400 - 500 cubic metres an hour for f***k sake wake up. mind you the picture looks like a 1 x 1 x 2 metre tent that means 150 cubic meter an hour fan.

comprende?
they never exhale c02

actually the fans you're suggesting are much too powerful for a tent his size, I don't know why you would need to move five hundred cubic feet of air through a room less than 150 cf. You complicated it with a huge paragraph of misinformation. do us all a favor and keep your mouth closed if you don't know what you're talking about.
