6 hour old trimmings for clones... Will it work?************+rep+*************

I have always had bagseed and yesterday my buddy game me his clippings from Sweetooth, Deathstar, Lemon G and Thai Haze. They were switching to flower and they cut the lower parts off and then gave to me 6 hours later.

I got a few clones of each in a dome. They were dipped in Rootech gel then Rootone powder, put in rockwool into a party cup of FF Ocean Forest soil.

Do they have any chance of making it? Some are perky and some are droopy. This is my first time cloning too....

Sure they have a chance. Getting cuttings to root is one of those hit-or-miss things the first times you try it (like germinating a seed). Just cover the basics as far as environment (good humidity, temps, etc) and read all you can about cloning to increase the chances of them living until they root. It's not as hard as you'd think at first - but some people get lucky... and others unlucky. Not unheard of for people to have success trying it their first time though by any means.

Did you re cut the stems underwater? After 6 hrs, the chances are, there is an embolism in the stem.

MMM , thats interesting . Normally after you cut you either put them in a cup of water or start the cloning process right away . If a air bubble gets up the stalk they are done for so mabey just mabey some may take but I'd say most won't.:leaf:

First time for everything I guess . All my first timers took .:)

Maybe I'm misunderstanding - were they just cut and left laying around for 6 hours before being dipped and placed in rockwool cubes? That would definitely hurt their chances if so but if some of them are perky, I'd say that's a good sign.

Yeah, I figured since they were trim, they weren't put in water after being cut.

Re cutting 1/2" up or so may get to fresh stem past the air bubble, may not.

Personally, I don't think I'd mess with them anymore to try and re-cut or remove them from where they are now.... especially if you have some perky ones.

Hey DBB, if those cuttings were in water when you got them then they should be okay. If the cuttings were not in water when you got them then there's a chance that the cutting might have air bubbles and won't root. You could try to re-cut them and put them in water and try to root them. What do you have to lose:) Hey DBB, will you check out my girl plant, she's in the Auto Flower Mortal Combat Competition. If you think JONI "WARRIOR DESTROYER" is worthy, would you vote for her.

you can put them in the fridge (i put em in a ziplock and fill it with air, and exchange the air every 3 day or so.) for a good month and get great results, called stasis. if the cuts were just sitting out, it's a crap shoot. if they're no good, in a few hours to a day or a little more, they should drop like a brick out the window. if they're good, they'll perk up.

Yes they were just sitting around in a black trash bag for 6 hours, no water or anything.... It is super humid in there though.

Most of them are perky but I guess I'll find out. Does misting the leaves help at all?

Sounds like some of them will take to me. Just make sure you have good humidity and the right temp that is the key to get them to take root
