After thoroughly reading my lease agreement to insure there wouldn't be any complications with growing my own med stash in my unit, I've discovered a clause that said my lease will be terminated if I violate any provisions of the federal controlled substances act...ain't that about a bitch? Now I'm stuck in this fucking unit until the end of this year and can't grow...total BULLSHIT! I highly suggest anybody else looking to grow in a rental property type of situation thoroughly review their lease agreement as I got the 'ol shaft-er-ew.

I wonder if you were to rent a property and legally grow your own MMJ and there is no clause in your lease regarding the CSA or violations of federal law etc...could you still be evicted if your landlord found out and disagreed with your legal grow?

Furthermore, according to my lease, I can't even smoke legal medical marijuana in my rented residence without risking eviction. Un-Fucking-believable...

It seems to me that the only safe way to do this would be to own your own property otherwise you risk losing your place to live. So much for legal MMJ in Michigan huh?

Thats nothing new if any federal money is involved.

The one to really watch out for is " property may not be used for immoral purposes" .. (the owners get's to define immoral)

I'd say that you could be evicted if you do ANYTHING that breaks the law and gives the landlord cause for "concern". I put concern in quotes because concern is a term that, in this case, is relative to the perceptions of the landlord. I've seen people evicted for getting a DUI ticket in the parking lot of their apartment, and listened with other tenants while couples beat the hell out of each other and got dragged off for domestic violence, only to KEEP their apartment without a warning. It's all a matter of perception in the eyes of the landlord.

Might not be the way he wants to get unstuck, Pimp. Some leases include clauses that hold you responsible for remaining rent, or at least an early termination fee if you're evicted before the lease is up.

Ya, I definitely am not looking to get evicted as I would have to pay for all of the remainder of my lease agreement for nothing. I suppose the best way to go is to just buy a supply from a friendly neighborhood CG and keep things on the low for now. I guess in that token, all is not lost I really was looking forward to being able to grow my own meds though...

Who says you still can't look forward to it? the only thing I see changing is the timetable in which it will happen. Just follow your plan and find a good CG for now, and start your grow when you can do so without messing yourself up. Who knows? You might end up with a good friend out of the mix as well!

I dunno about Michigan, but where I am at it takes forever to evict someone. do you guys have that cant evict people in the winter months law? I once got taken to court by an old landlord. I was one day late on the rent. Went in the next day with full amount and they told me it that there was a 75 dollar late fee and they could not take my money they needed the full amount(full rent plus 75 fee) haha. I told the dude to go fuck himself they served me with papers and I moved. they took me to court. I told the judge the judge they refused to take my rent which they admitted too and the judge actually made them pay me back my security deposit. turns out it is illegal to evict someone for a late fee and while they were right to charge a fee they cant not accept my rent payment and then evict me. best court experience ever.

Grats on that one! Most folks aren't so lucky as to come across a colossally stupid landlord like that, though. And you're right, there is a required period of notice, not sure on the minimum time length, though. Also, while I know that there are programs that prevent low income families from losing their electricity and gas service, I'm not sure if there is a law that prevents winter evictions. If I had to hazard a guess, I'd say no, but I could be wrong and am quite often.

i grow in an apartment, and have a contingency plan if i get evicted. my grow is very neat and in tents, so if they were to evict me i would be surprised. my apartment complex is quiet and management and maintenance is pretty laid back. i really want to get out of this apartment sooner than january when my lease is up, because i need more lights =/
