How do I Talk to My Doctor? Help! Appointment Coming Up

So I am going to try to get my medical card because I have eating problems when I don't smoke, I have literally gone weeks without eating because I didn't have weed. No appetite without it, in fact food sounds nasty without it. I have also had back problems since high school cause of a weight lifting accident. I have an appointment with my doctor May 17 and an appointment with the Maricopa Wellness on the 19th and she told me I need documentation saying I have these problems. I am also a new patient to my doctor so it's not like these problems will all of a sudden come up. But how can I talk to him about getting the paperwork I need to take with me to my other appointment?

i have the same problem.

i cant eat, i cant sleep, its making me depressed so tack that on. my weight has dropped and really havent grown much and its really taking its toll on me. =\
the thing is i HATE taking pills, i'll end up throwing them back up anyways. when i had my wisdom teeth removed i couldnt even take PK's. advil and penicillin seem to be the only 'pills' i can stomach. so when i go see the doctor with my problems, his solution is pills, even though he knows i cant stomach them.
I just end up waisting money over the years seeing doctors for them to say 'well try these pills' that i just stopped seeing doctors. So my medical history is very very thin.
This is the responce i got to my problem's i stated above:

I'd recommend that you start going and seeing a doctor on a semi-regular basis, if possible.
Based upon what you've told me, you were probably already diagnosed with a debilitating condition if you were previously prescribed lots of prescription pills and you are currently unable to eat.

When you see your doctor, have him diagnose your current condition and have him prescribe you some pills for your condition, even if you cannot or do not want to take them. Your goal is to establish an on-going relationship with a doctor that can at least diagnose your conditions, if nothing else.
Once you have a confirmed diagnosis from your doctor and you have a bagful of prescription pills that you can't take, you'll be able to come see our Specialist doctor. Our doctor specializes in determining if your diagnosed condition could be treated effectively using medical marijuana. Our doctor does not evaluate you to actually diagnose your condition, rather our doctor will evaluate you to determine if your already diagnosed condition will qualify you for medical marijuana.
When you make your appointment to see our doctor, you'll want to bring your diagnosis paperwork, your prescriptions that you can't take, and any other relevant records that your doctor produces.
If you don't have a current Primary doctor, Urgent Care facilities throughout the state may be able to treat you!

so basically, what he is telling me from what i understand, is that i have to spend more $$$$$, get a "bag full of 'scrips", then i have a 50/50 chance of getting a card.
personally i think this arizona law is bullshit. if you dont have aids or cancer or hepatitis its like they wont see you.
What about the people like us that cant eat, sleep, depressed, ADD, etc etc?!?!?!??!..... I mean, seriously. I think the doctors and the board can figure out who needs a card and who the 'druggies' are

Arizona is bull shit in general. Yeah, I hate pills too. I was addicted to meth and now a lot of pills make me feel like I'm coming down from that shit but I don't want to tell a doctor I was addicted if I'm trying to get a card for another "drug". Well at least even if I don't get the card, I can still get medical grade weed... well actually once the dispensaries start going and shit we'll all be able to get the good shit even if we don't have the card! LOL

thats exactly what i think about this Az law. And youre right, im even afraid to talk to my family doctor about marijuana and how it helps more than any pill him or other doctors prescribe. But I cant, because its the whole "Drug" thing and I dont want to tell him "Well over the years ive been smoking it instead of taking your pills and it helps..." LOL thats not really something I go around telling people, you know? So its tough talking to my doctor about it.

I even tried to talk to one of those "Recommending" doctors here in scottsdale and he wouldnt give me the time of day.

All I wanted from him was to see him so that *HE* can be my doctor, not someone that will give me a recommendation for weed, but the one I can go to to get check out, to talk to, my symptoms, etc. because i dont feel comfortable talking about weed in front of my Family doctor who was pretty much in the delivery room when I was born

do some research find a doctor that will have no problem giving it to you--but i would just go in there and tell him about your eating disorder--there doctors they want to prescribe something that will help you it shouldn't be too hard for you to achieve keep me updated and tell me if you get it

I just talked to one of my friends a couple days ago about my back cause I hurt it in weight training in high school when my arms gave out while I was dead lifting and something in my back popped, I heard it and felt it, and I passed out and woke up and couldn't breath and ever since then my back kills me. I get to the point where I'm crying and nothing I take helps, I've tried Tramadol, Ibuprofen 800, and a couple other things the hospital gave me. The hospital visit wasn't right after my accident, I actually haven't been to a doctor about this problem. Anyway, my friend said that his buddy went to a doctor about the same kinda pain, same thing happened with the pop and passing out, and I guess he blew a disk in his back. So I dunno. But I do know that weed helps. I dunno if it takes away the pain, but it definitely helps me forget about it.

The military is bull shit. Not the soldiers, I love our soldiers. It's bull shit that the military doesn't respect their soldiers and take proper care of them. My ex husband was in the military, Army to be specific, and he turned into such a complete ass hole. Every wife I knew on base said the same about their husband. He even told me that like his COs and shit would tell them all that their job came before their family, like really?! Sorry, unimportant.

In all honesty you should just go to a specialized doctor or that greenleaf convention they have going on today.
You get a free exam with ur ticket, they're gunna hand out cards like candy there.

On a side note- im 20 and got my card in colorado. I literally just walked in and said i lost 6 lbs in 2 weeks and smoking makes me eat. Got my card for severe naseau :]

I was in the military and the easyiest way to get ur records is to go to your last duty station and request them in person if not u goota wait on the military archive people to get a fire under their ass to get u ur records . as for hisgirl get ahold of maricopa wellness they are really good people

I recently went through the qualification, paperwork etc.
and was approved by the state. So here is my opinion based
on what my understanding is, having just gone through this.
O.K. Here's the thing.
It's my understanding that the state requires that the DR. be approved for recommending mj.
In other words, if I am understanding this correctly, those of you who are working themselves-up
to trying to convince your regular DR. to give you a recommendation, may be wasting your time.
My mmj DR. is registered with the state for this specific purpose to my understanding.
AZ MMJ DR's. are given specific guidelines concerning the requirements, that other DR's. are not otherwise recognized by the state to determine without this certification.
If you already saw a AZ certified mmj DR. and he/she turned you down, it's very possible that your condition
is not included in the AZ law as a qualified justification for mmj.
However, nothing stops You from getting a second mmj DR's opinion, other than the extra cost.

I do agree with what you said about getting a specialized mmj DR.
However, obviously Colorado is NOT Arizona.
AZ currently has the strictest mmj requirements in the U.S.
What gets-by in Colorado, California, etc.
will-not get-by in Arizona.
So while your experience is encouraging,
it has no bearing in Arizona unfortunately.
Although congrats on getting your card in Colorado!

With some prior documentation getting the card is pretty simple. I took my records for back pain to a clinic and had my approval from the state in 12 hours. Got my temporary card in 5 days. AZ can be bullshit but I have to disagree that they are making the whole process difficult. I have read other states have a 90 day waiting period and others need recommendations from more than one Dr.

I would have to assume that anyone with real medical issues would have been to their Dr. at some point. 85% of all cards issued are for chronic pain and not diseases.

This is a great foot in the door for MJ and if the state screws it up with abuse then the opponents will have more ammo to appeal. These clinics have to be able to support their recommendation if audited.
