I read an article in the louisville courier journal where 2 cops were watching a hydro store and a guy bought a bunch of lights and hydro stuff. turns out the guy was growing tomatoes.

Thank you Captain obviuos! It is safer than buying on the black market and my wife needs MMJ. We will be getting our cards soon but I am still going to keep it on the DOWN low.

They're watched closely. I live in an MMJ state and grow legally. I do what I'm allowed to and got a visit from the PO-PO one night. They said they couldn't tell me who tipped them off and I left it at that but I noticed I had been followed a few times prior to that by a car I've seen hovering around the hydro store a few times. The same car the Po-Po was rolling in.
The cops that showed up were very friendly and there were several of them, apparently they were part of a marijuana task force (many cities now have these due to the rise in growers),wanted to make sure we had everything in order and weren't about to burn the neighborhood down with a bunch of crazy wiring. I showed them my room, my papers and they were happy with what they saw in fact they even gave me a few tips they had receieved form other local growers. When I walked them out they said thank you and told me they come across way to many houses without any papers and made sure to point out the fact that were numerous patrol cars parked down the street, had I not had my papers I would have been taking a ride in one of those patrol cars.
Get your papers and keep it legit.

Sure maybe they really do watch some of the grow shops for suspicious (obvious) activity but how long do you suppose those stores would they remain open if every customer was a potential cannabis grower and all of them got busted?

Seems kind of funny to me too. I really couldn't imagine the cops in my area wasting their time sitting in the parking lot of hydro stores and following people. As it is there's a shit load of grow stores so I doubt they even have enough cops to watch them all constantly. If you stay low key you should be fine but if I were the OP I would get my ass in gear on getting those MM cards, it doesn't make sense to even take the chance of getting caught without one.

I live in a state with no medicinal marijuana law, and the truth is I have noticed state troopers across from one of the grow shops I go to.
It is right off an interstate and I have witnessed police pulling cars over.... because they were speeding.
All joking aside, I really hope that everyone here understands their rights. If the police question you outside a grow shop or even follow you to your house (something to look out for before you get home) and ask if they can come inside to check out what kind of plants you are growing, you be sure to tell them to get a fucking warrant and good luck with that without any probable cause. Also slap an "I Heart Tomatoes" bumper sticker on your vehicle for good measure.

thats mad because i went to my local hydro but i park round the corner an i walk round,well anyway as i come round the corner i see an unmarked car with 2 people inside as i get close i noticed the radio's it seemed they were watching an noteing down who was walking in an out of the shop,lucky there's factories all around the area so i went up an asked for a application form for a job left without going to hydro,so now i use friends addrerss to have parcels sent there an have a made up name,friend knows the name so he can sign for parcels an he's all cool with it, but yes i think it may be a new tatic as rooms are getting so more covert these days popo are having to try differant things to catch people out,i have never seen police there before as i am allways wary of surrondings the weed dont make you paronoid it makes you aware,

ive deliberatly visited normal garden stores an brought packets of seeds an tomato etc an there all in the back garden i tend to them in an effort to convince them that i do do gardening if there watching,if you have a porch have some growing out there sit out there for a bit an tend to your tommy/strawberry garden at least if they see you doing that they might think well hes a keen veggy gardener if there watching ya

If you ask me they are more likely watching out for the people who are going to take notice of a police presence and then proceed to shit themselves. This in itself is quite sad, but if you take certain precautions like not making it obvious you are there to get supplies to grow your illegal flowers (perhaps you shouldn't buy those CANNA nutes, after all) you really should be fine.
You have to remember that these people are trained to both induce fear and sense it, and then they get to use their senses and your fear against you. Keep a clear mind - you're doing absolutely nothing wrong - nothing. Garden supplies are not illegal to buy or possess; and most plants that people grow actually are legal (for now).
If you actually are questioned force yourself to repeat the following words:
"Am I under arrest, officer? Am I free to go?" then go home and write a letter to your police chief, mayor, city council, governor and local newspapers declaring how appalled how are that your money is being used to profile (probably racially!) and harass hard working, tax-paying, lawn-caring, rose and tomato growing citizens while some sick fucker could be waiting for your children in the bathroom at the public library.

Focking Gestapos........... I can't stand that shit. I can't believe we live in a country and age where the police are asking for papers and then reminding us that they will ruin our life if we don't follow the rules. Sometimes I worry about my kids future. But that's a different thread.

The Shop I refered to was a shop set up in an industrial area (this was before MMJ law passed) and it was a front. The cops owned it. Bust several large opperations. I don't live there anymore. I live in a small city outside of vegas and there is only one shop here. That's why I am nervous. I shop is easy to watch and they have nothing better to do than chase around pot and meth dealers.
