ok ...one o our previously unreleased ghetto secrets ... your soil can get better with each grow ... Big ole worms !! lotys of em !! let your used soil rest a few weeks with about 100 worms in it.. we feed some coffee grounds , used tea .... worms will upgrade your soil , nutralize the toxins , and give you the best and freshest worm casting you can get ;-) gets even the cheapest soil closer to organic with ever run ! true story ....
What a great idea!! It makes perfect sense...I can get night crawlers cheap too...So a big Rubbermaid type bin is about the right size (& a screen to sift out the worms I would guess)?

Anyway, here is a pic of a fem'd Northern Light at 25 days of 12/12 under a 400w HPS....in the same MG Moisture Control soil that saw a Himalayan Blue Diesel Auto & a White Widow from seedling to harvest....This soil saw additional nutes for the 1st time on the NL grow....used water & a water blackstrap molasses mix on the 1st two grows....

very healthy looking ... nice job . Fact is that mother nature seems to get away with reusing her soils all the time . I even leave the broken roots in .. they just compost and help airiate the soil . Dont listen to the naysayers ... take care of your soil , doesnt matter what kind you start with .. mother nature can turn it into good stuff that is reusable . You can use all kind of stuff in your rest period , egg shells are awsome ! just remeber to bury them or they will stink ... lol .. just trust me on this one . The coffee grinds and used tea break down real quick and the worms love it .

You can refresh used soil by mixing it with "garden soil", which is cheap as fuck. (inversely, you can stretch cheap "garden soil" by mixing it with used soil, lol... either way, it's the cheapest route)

I used MG organic garden soil in my first grow, mixed it with promix because it's too hot and needs to be taken down 50/50. Still use it... mix it with my old FFOF soil for my outdoor vegetable garden, but I don't see why you can't refresh old soil with any kind of charged garden soil. (It's mad cheap too, $5 for 2½ cubic ft bag at walmart)

Of course, I'm of the opinion that MG soil should come with a coupon for free flypaper being that every bag is loaded with insects, so I don't recommend it unless you're prepared to deal with all manner of pests.
Actually I noticed the bugs before too but they've only "hatched" or whatever when I plant outdoors OR it could be that my current indoor setup is 24hr lighting and temps just right to block them, 2 separate bag, one was from kmart another from walmart...the bag from kmart sat outside for a few weeks too. Guess its a matter of luck or maybe those bugs attracted to what's in MGMC

To avoid this, because I use pulverized eggshell indoors as well, I just rinse the shells under warm water in a strainer. Things like this can be done with say the run-off which occurs while washing your hands so as not to waste water, and then given a quick spray down with the kitchen sink spray wand. Then I let them dry in a warm place before hitting them with the coffee grinder.

The guts of the egg: any egg white or yolk that remains on the shell, is what will potentially cause an odor as it rots (animal proteins are present). You'll notice an egg shell consists of the shell itself and a thin membrane which is attached to the inside. After rinsing\drying that is all that will remain, and this material is 90% or more calcium carbonate.
