I understand the question, but I have never met anyone who trims the roots of a mother in aero. I've never had a need to do it myself, either.What do you mean the wrong medium? Do you even understand the question? Many people grow mother plants & other plants in a deep water culture bubbler system or aeroponic system. I asked if roots could be trimmed for the long term because roots can get way out of hand especially if you plan on keeping a mother plant for a long time.
Growers do do it though from my understanding. If you really think about it, it is really not an abnormal procedure for dwc or aero. Roots have many places to form within soil but in a bucket system they can get in the way of sprayers, pumps, cause clogs, etc....
I do not mean to sound all omnipotent, however, I have actually grown bonsai trees for a number of years (non mj, mind you). When you cut the roots (in half), the plant goes into shock, and prohibits it from growing any larger. I doubt this would differ from hydro.No growth wont stop according to what Im hearing. I was interested in trimming to control the growth of roots from taking over the entire bucket system.
