mushroom growing outdoors????

Does anyone know if there is a way to grow mushrooms outdoors during the summer months, much the same way pot is grown outdoors? I live in the interior BC. Thanks

Why? Indoors is so much more controlled.

When do you see mushies popping up all over the place where you live? That would be a good indicator of when to try. I don't recall seeing many during the summer myself.

sorry I guess I should have said anytime there is not snow on the ground lol. I did see some mushrooms this spring in my yard. But if you were going to grow them outside during ideal conditions how would you go about it? I want to do them indoors but all the ways Ive seen are small amounts. I want to do one harvest a year and have enough for the rainy days.

I dunno, I'd be too worried about contaminations and such. But I would think you could essentially set it up about the same. Make a garden bed full of substrate that you would normally use indoors.

Mind you, I have no real experience of these things yet.

The answer is definitely yes. Cyanescens can be set to grow on wet corregated cardboard and using this as spawn, inoculate alder wood chips in a hole in the ground. Cover that up, keep it moist and you will see mushrooms a year later.

You can colonize some medium and then use that to recolonized a bulk medium.

Like make 10 jars, and use the 10 jars to colonize 6 sq ft of medium.
This can be done within a month. Rotate it every 2 weeks, and you get shrooms once a month. GL
