Hey guys, i'm switching to 12/12 for my big ass plants today or tomorrow. i just wanted to know 2 things:

1. Do you gradually change to 12/12 or just instantly?

2. After how long will my plants start to show sex?

some people do a 24/36 hr dark period but no studies have shown any real benefit to it. personal preference. you should be able to sex your plant within a week, prob less. alot of plants put out pre-flowers during veg, look em up

instantly, about 10 days AVERAGE there is no standard time.

just press the pins on your timer for 6 more hours of darkness when the ladies are sleeping and you will be fine :) the 1-2 day(s) darkness before switching to 12/12 is really unnecessary in my opinion! now if you meant to change the light cycle from 18/6 to 16/8 and more before you switch to flower NO do not do this because you will stress your plants and you will notice a lot of streching. cheers happy smelly flowering dude, share some pics of your sweet buds with us when they start showing up. :)

You jump right to it, if you want. I don't think it really matters. I mean, if you're thinking abotu how mother nature does it, yes, it's more gradual, but when you want your grow to be faster, you can't really wait around, can you?

Your plants should begin to show sex around a week, from my experience.

good luck man.....

I drop it down by an hour a day for the reason Sensibowl gave.
I try to recreate nature as much as possible in any way i can.
I have never experienced any stretching or ill-effects.
Im not saying its the best way to do it just that its absolutely fine to do.

i´d say flip it right away .
pistils show whenever they ready. usually about 8- 15 days (USUALLY, its not a fact)

You beat me to it.lol While switching instantly, triggers flowering instantly, it also triggers 'the stretch'. Doing it gradually, keeps this to a minimum, but also takes alot longer. It's a trade-off, and most of is just accept 'the stretch' and deal with it.
