I recently started a thread to give RUI some information that I obtained from fox farms. I live on the east coast as well. I grew in happy frog, light warrior, and ocean forest for several years with great success. Then all of a sudden shit went down hill. I started having all sorts of issues, that essential got boiled down to a ph issues. Either locked out or was too low 90% of the time. Even after the struggles of ph'ing I recently ran into a $500 order of ocean forest that was infested with fungus gnats.

They wrapped up my claim to the notion that batch was left outside, got wet, and gnats followed. They reshipped another order to my vendor with the same condition.

I have changed to pro-mix this year for my outdoor. I am hoping to not have a need to grow indoors after this outdoor season. I greatly prefer the taste of outdoor grown than indoor grown cannabis.

The trials and tribulations of a dirt bagger :)

I am having problems with brown spots in flowering just though my ph was high it was at 7.2 for awhile I guess I lowered it down and the same thing is going on. Do the leafs come back? or just continue to die. I plucked all the dead leafs off. I didnt know there was a problem with soil?

Oh I just got off the phone with customer service and they told me that they are NOT! having a problem with there soils. They are tested every 15 mins. and shipped out immediately. So if you get bugs there is a chance its from the store you bought it from. There is no east coast west coast problems. There is 3 customer service reps for the whole country so she would have heard there was a problem with there soils. If you have proof there is plz post it she said they read these sites to make sure that if there was a problem they are aware of this, she told me there is NO Problems. IF you are having problems its 100% satisfaction guarantee, so.... Thats from the horses mouth. I don't know if someone is trying to promote someone else's soil, there is nothing wrong with FFOF.

Yes I've feed them twice they were in L.W. 1 week then veg for 3 weeks all most 2 weeks in flower now! The color not right drooping long skinny leaves. My next grow or 2 is going to be all rock wool and AN nuts they last a lot longer and already paid for but the juice. This is how I grew before it was legal in mi and there were no grow shops then all the shops pop opening push there ffof. With rock wool I know when to feed and how much and water every other time! The rock wool is much clean and it cheaper in the long run. I already waster 6 weeks so what another 5 or 6 and hope I get something to make it worth wild.:wall::wall::wall: I've gave them 3/4 cup of soil doctor lawn lime total I was giving then 3 tbs at one time but not today the run off is 5.8-6.1 still!! next watering their getting 1/2 cup lime each mix in the soil it hasn't hurt!!!:wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

I so agree with you on rock wool it's so much better IMO for indoor grows. The plants seem to grow faster for me.

straight from the horse's mouth, eh? I'm not having any problems personally, but come on bro... that sounds like a fresh load straight from the horse's ass. of course they're not going to admit anything is wrong with their products, if they did that would cost the company a significant amount in losses. c.s. reps will lie they're asses off to protect the company at all costs.

Just speaking from personal observations but FFOF is not the same as it was a couple of years ago. The shit look like twig and branches with some bark and I had the ph issues also when there where none before. All that caused me to switch to sunshine 4 and I will never go back.

was an indoor hydro store and the gnats came out the bag, i have a clean house and cant remember the last time i saw a bug flying around, i wouldnt call it a coincidence that they magically appear in the grow tent that i put the soil into.
Okay so you see a gnat fly out of your bag of OF, what's your point? No, no coincidence.. at least one other fungus gnat probably did, apparently, lay eggs in that bag. But you can't blame that on Fox Farm. You don't know if there were gnat eggs or larvae in that bag upon leaving their facility, and you don't know what kind of environment it was in during shipping, or prior to being purchased.

As a matter of fact, it seems to me that there is some kind of mite in my container plants. I had fungus gnats, but they're going away and instead my soil is crawling with herds of tiny little tan colored mites... which I am quite positive are hypoaspis/predatory mites. I have even seen these crawling around in the soil of my freshest transplants, into Ocean Forest soil. I can't be positive they originated from the OF, or if Fox Farms has these crawling around the soil in their production facility and some of the eggs survived... I just don't know, but I like them anyways.

I could care less about gnats they don't eat much and their not my problem their just a little pest they really don't hurt the plant do they?

Generally more of a nuisance, they'll fly around you and get stuck in the lower buds and shit. Depending on where you get your information fungus gnats either eat primarily dead organic matter or fungus/fungal spores, but the larvae may also eat the finer root hairs. Surely they aren't a very serious pest, but they are definitely a common one and it is best to take preventative measures in the first place. If you don't do anything about them at all their populations could get out of control and that can be a problem. Outdoors fungus gnats have predators to keep them in check, while inside this is not typically the case.

No it won't clog them. Mix with water and dishsoap. Shake vigorously and spray dirt and both sides of leaves. I read awhile back that foxfarms had exhausted their soil supplies so they were outsourcing the soil. This could be the reason for the change and issues.
