400 or 600 HPS for Flowering

I have 7 plants growing all of which are topped and under a 400w HPS light in a 4x4x7 mylar setup. When it's time to flower would it be better to use a 400w or 600w HPS? Any tips/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I would go with the 400w if your gonna have heat problems, the 600w puts out a great deal of heat. hows your ventilation ?

if possible i'd use the 600w. do you have a cooltube? how tall do you want these plants to be? space and temps are what you need to consider.

Im gunna have a cool tube either way. I have an inline duct fan blowing through the tube and out the tent. All my plants are gunna be topped so I dont think they will be too tall.

even with a cool tube it will still heat up... specially in the tent but as long as your temp stays in line go with the 600 it will give more yield.

db2, I just upgraded to a 600w, and the heat is seriously diff from my 400w set up. If you have that in check, then , by all means go with the 600w to cover that area better. ATB!

i use a 600 watt hps in my 4x4x7 tent temps stay at 70 to 78 if u have good ventalation i have a 6 inch inline fan pulling air from the light and bottom of tent the suction will naturally bring fresh air in and i have 4 plants in my tent topped they are hudge will try to pics up

Depending on where you live and what they charge for elec. I have noticed its about 100$ per month per 1000 watt so with a 600 watt may go up about 20-30 $ but depends on again what elec. company you have see my elec company charges me more the more elec i use so when I had 4000 watts plus AC. cost me about $150 per light per month. 3000 watt cost me about 130 per light and 1000 watt only 98 a month. But with 600 watt IT WILL NOT INCREASE IF you veg with 400 and flower with 600 your actually only using the same amount of electricity because instead of 18 hours at 400 watts which is 7200 watts a day you would use a 600 watt for 12 hours and use the same wattage 7200. :)

Get urself a giant magnet put it on that power meter u wil cut ur power bill in half lol just playin
