im trying to find a way to throw some sweeteners in with my plants when i swtich to 12/12, im not doing completly organic this run, but hoping to try the SS mix in a grow or too, but im going to be using liquid koolbloom through most of flowering untill the 3rd week from the end and using the dry, so would mollasses or something help out with the sweet and smell im looking for, or is this koolbloom do that already?

Try Sucanat. It's dried cane juice and is cheaper than molasses. Screw that botanicare sweet shit!:blsmoke:

I've tried it. Wasn't impressed and the shit's expensive! Molasses always causes my leaves to yellow prematurely. I've been using Sucanat for almost 2 years and have never noticed a difference in taste. Plants don't really take on the taste of what you put in the soil. They can only absorb miniscule amounts of simple sugars and it doesn't affect the taste at all IMO. I can feed my plants nothing but Sweet Grape and my plants won't even kind of taste like grape. Stuff is a ripoff IMO. bongsmilie

i use molasses... have no problems of leaves turning yellow. maybe you need to supplement some Nitrogen into your feeding regimen. And the molasses is only $2 down here for a 12 oz jar. sounds cheap to me...

lol! Nitrogen is NOT the problem. I didn't use molasses long enough to really give 2 shits though. I switched to sucanat, which is way less messy, and I am not experiencing the yellowing I was with molasses. I can get a 2 pound bag of sucanat for 3-4 dollars and it lasts me 2-3 times as long as a jar of molasses. To each their own I guess. The OP wanted opinions on organic sweeteners. I gave mine. If you're happy with molasses or expensive hydro shop sweeteners then what do I care?

That stuff is so shetty that Sub uses it so I would do some research before typing there, I personally use Black Strap & also used Grand Ma's Molasses as well with good results - 1 or 2 table spoons per gallon

Good luck

It's simply my opinion based on my own experiences. I've tried virtually every "sweetener" on the market. Every time I go to the hydro shop the manager always is giving me samples of this shit (as well as other products). I normally don't trash brands or specific products, and I know there are a lot of people who use it. I found it to be of no benefit to me whatsoever AND it is pretty pricey. I also found molasses to be pretty much useless and it seemed to cause rapid, premature yellowing of the fan leaves. Sucanat, I started using because of subcool's recommendation. I don't normally buy into snake oils and keep my list of products I use to a bare minimum these days. I have not noticed any dramatic results using any sweetener but sucanat seemed to increase my yields by approximately 10%. That doesn't seem like much but for a $4 investment I'll take a 10% increase in yields any day! I get no yellowing, it is dry and dissolves readily in even cold water, which molasses doesn't do so easily. To each their own. If you have a product that you like and find gives you good results, use it! I have a cousin who swears by Advanced Nutrients. I have nothing personally against them and have never used them. I just can't see spending that kind of money when I can get the same or close to the same results at a fraction of the price. I still experiment with different products and when I find one that seems to work well, I continue to use it.:weed:

I'd have to say it has as much if not way more to do with genetics than what sugar-containing products one uses to grow the plant with. But, I can't say I have tried any commercial plant carbohydrate supplements; just blackstrap molasses in tea brewing and applied to soil (primarily for the potassium and minerals it contains). I also use Liquid Karma which is another Botanicare supplement with sucrose and amino acids (we're now realizing that plants can indeed take up amino acids)... but I can't say it has had any marked affect on aroma.

Growing Mandala Kalichakra right now, started from seed and currently almost done flowering. Of two plants they both smell pretty damn good... but one of them in particular I would have to say is just about the best I have ever smelled. No significant difference in how they were grown, same fertilizers/supplements used (AACT with guano, blackstrap and kelp) just one seems to have better genetic traits in the aroma department.

I thought I recognized that name somewhere. I had to go and check. I presume it is the same TCurtiss that had some pics in a magazine a few months back? :P

Just add some Splenda and there is less calories in your bong hits. heh j/k

I use black strap and that shit is messy but it is cheap. I get a quart of food grade for $2 and it lasts a couple harvests. There is a feed store down the street and they sell it for $4 a gallon but it is feed grade and not for human consumption so hesitant to try it. Anyone use the feed grade with good results?
