im not 100% sure on the science of it all on making fem seeds

but as far as just taking the banana leaf ( im assuming you mean from a hermi plant ) to pollinate a female you will just get seeds that have very strong hermi traits and more then likely will hermi themselves

if im mis understanding you , sorry my man

,

welcome to all the women growers

i think its cool that females are into growing

my fiance does not know how to grow but when she sees me messing with them , taking a cutting , lsting , ect

she is right their with total curiosity wondering what im doing and the reasoning for it and all ,

she is just trying to get an understanding on how it all works ,

its all good

i might need her to look after my babies one day
must be nice. my girl wont even come in the room. doesnt even wanna look at em. its hard juggling my woman and my girls lol

Soma's version of making feminized seeds.

Creating feminized seeds is an art, there are a few different methods of application. I have written about some of my different methods of making seeds in previous HIGH TIMES articles. I have use gibberellic acid, light stress, ph stress, and fertilizer stress to force my plants to make seeds. All these methods are harsh on the plants, and some like the gibbrellic acid, are not organic. In my search for cleaner more earth-friendly ways of working with the cannabis plant, I have found a new way to make feminized seeds.

Feminized seeds occur as a result of stress, other than genetics. All cannabis plants can and will make male flowers under stress. Certain strains like a higher PH, some like a lower one. Some like a lot of food, some like a lot less. There is quite a lot of variety in marijuana genetics, and you can’t treat every plant the same way.

It takes many harvests before you really get to know a particular strain. Just like getting to know human friends, it takes time. I have grown strains for a decade and am truly getting to know every nuance the different plants exhibit. I can recognize them from a distance. I must say that I get a lot of help from my friends, both in making seeds and learning new and better ways of working with this sacred plant.

I named this new method “Rodelization” after a friend who helped me realize and make use of this way of creating female seeds. After growing crop after crop of the same plant in the same conditions, I noticed that if I flowered the plants 10-14 days longer than usual, they would develop male “bananas”. A male banana is a very slight male flower on a female marijuana plant that is formed because of stress. Usually they do not let out any pollen early enough to make seeds, but they sometimes do. They are a built in safety factor so in case of sever conditions, the plant can make sure that the species is furthered.

To me a male banana is quite a beautiful thing. It has the potential of making all female seeds. Many growers out there have male banana phobia. They see one and have heart palpitations, they want to cut down the entire crop or at least take tweezers and pluck the little yellow emerging devices out. I call them “Emergency Devices” because they emerge at times of stress.

In the Rodelization method, the male banana is very valuable. After growing your female plant 10-14 days longer than usual, hang them up to dry, then carefully take them off the drying lines and inspect for bananas. Each and every banana should be removed and placed in a small bag labeled very accurately. These sealed bags can be placed in the fridge for one to two months and still remain potent.

For the second phase you need to already have a crop that’s already 2 ½ weeks into flowering. Take your sealed bag of pollen out of the fridge, and proceed to impregnate your new crop of females. To do this, you must first match the female plant and the pollen from the same strain in the previous crop. Shut down all the fans in the grow room. Then take a very fine paint brush, dip it in the bag of pollen, and paint it on the female flower. Do this to each different strain you have growing together. I have done it with ten different kinds in the same room with great success.

I use the lower flowers to make seeds, leaving the top colas seedless for smoking. This method takes time(two crops), but is completely organic and lets you have great quality smoke at the same time you make your female seeds. If you’re one of those growers that has never grown seeds for fear of not having something good to smoke, you will love this method.

You can also use this pollen to make new female crosses by cross pollinating. The older females with the bananas can be brought into the room with the younger, un-pollinated females when they are three weeks into flowering. Turn all of the circulation fans on high, and the little bits of pollen will proceed to make it around the room. Do this for several days. Six to seven weeks later you will have ripe 100% female seeds; not nearly as many as a male plant would make, but enough to start over somewhere else with the same genetics.

As a farmer who has been forced to move his genetics far away from where they started, I know very well the value of seeds. My friend Adam from THSeeds in Amsterdam has a motto that I love to borrow these days: “Drop seeds not bombs”.

If your talking about feminizing seeds, your on the right track but a little off. They turn their females into "males" by spraying it with chemicals, namely colloidal silver which you can make yourself at home. The females beings growing pollen sacks and the pollen is collected and used to pollinate a clone of the same exact plant.
When the seeds grow you have 99% chance of them all being feminized. That's because the pollen was taken from a plant that is genetically female. When you take hermie pollen, you take it from a plant that's genetically a hermie, meaning that all the seeds produced will have a good chance being hermie's.

Sorry if you already knew all that.

wow. talk about me being wrong. well, idk if I agree with that even though Some is 100x the grower I am.
i think through a few years of selective breeding, you can breed out that trait. Cause even if you use hermie
pollen, they're not all gonna be hermies. If you choose the plants that don't show any hermie traits,
you can breed it out....I think

So are you saying that all i have to do is spray that colloidal silver on my female plant and it will force her to stress and pollinate herself

and the seeds i get from her will be fem seeds ?

also

you said you can make it at home

whats the recipe for it my man ?

Welcome Cat Eyes420, good to have another "female" grower aboard. I don't know why there are so few women growers, we have medical issues that can benefit from MMJ just like men. I actually think that some men have the impression that we are invading their territory by growing our own MJ. Growing my own is a better option than trying to score from someone on the street, much safer too. I can also avoid the middleman, having a male score for me, and then having to share the MJ or decline unwanted advances for the favor. Growing my own I know what I am getting and how it was grown. Growing your own personal stash, the MJ is always good stuff.

Thanks for the welcome girl i dont really have the problem of a middle man i been smoking since high school and naturally transitioned to medical MJ, so i just pick up from the collectives, most got good shit but you never know what your smoking on, could have been a little mold for all we know, i would rather grow my own, and its funny how everyone assumes men grow, because even when people see my plants they automatically think my hubby grew them, and ask him a question about growing, he has no idea lol, but ask him about buds hes like a dictionary lol

what you got growing?

I used to grow right out of high school. Just started growing again with my Husband, it's a hobby I never thought we would do together! lol He doesn't even smoke! All for me! MuaHAhAHHAHA! <3

When I first starting growing MJ I treaded very lightly. I would get weird looks and stares, one guy asked me if I was in the wrong place only because there was a Dollar Store next door! I would go to the Grow Store and just look around to get an idea of what they had in stock and compare that to my wishlist. Then I started to make purchases and the attitudes changed. Now I am a regular customer at both of the Grow Stores I frequent and they take me serious. On my last visit I didn't buy anything but was in the store for 30+ minutes talking to the salesperson. Not all women have a man in their lives to do some of the things that are traditional done by males (I want one). Or the man may not have the interest or time to do certain things, so, we have to do whatever it takes to make our lives as enjoyable as possible. Like being a good help mate to our partners and by doing things for ourselves.

I am not a big smoker either, I enjoy growing MJ, it's an expensive hobby but rewarding.

sexist much? i dont think the "males" of riu really have a problem with women growers. maybe the swedish men do but the rest of us are cool with it. but comments like that make it hard to take you serious. a lot of the women on riu (notice i said a lot and not all) single themselves out and seperate themselves from "male" growers by making a point to let people know that they're a female grower. who cares, just grow the shit. this site should be more about spreading good information about cannabis cultivation, and less about what sex, color,or creed we are. we're all just avatars trying to grow better shit. oh, and don't worry sugarmuffin, not every man wants to fuck you. ;-)

If you put your opinions and thoughts out there on the world wide web, its open for individual interpretation, its unfair to judge others based on there own assumption when they know no different, dude, bitch, fag, slut, whatever, i never take these names as anything other than slang for a term of rapport, if you do take offence to these things, maybe you shouldnt be putting yourself out there as you dont like the responses you get. food for thought.
