1 Week Old Mid Marijuana Plants First Grow

Hello fellow members of RIU! This is my very first grow and it seems like its growing good. I'm Currently using MG seedling started mixed with some unfertilized soil from my garden, and MG Organic mix. My plants are under 2 42 watt florescent bulbs and 1 23 watt florescent bulb. Tell me what you think and give me suggestions. (I will include following pictures with everything I have for these MJ plants.) dont think either of those plants foods r gonna do. stems r very thin, u have to start running a fan blowing on them gently but to where they move slightly at least 1-2 hours a day. they need to thicken & strengthen. plants r stretched as well, not too bad though. need to have ur cfls a little less then 2" from the tops at all times.

looking good dude and dont let ppl bully you to that farm fox stuff MG dose work i have seen it used on a bigger scale and it dose work

ok nitro COMMIT ALREADY, lol. I mean will they work or wont they. in one breath u say they will, the next is they will but not well.

the reason I said those nutes were no good (for the record) was not that they were MG, it was because one is a shake n feed, which is kind of like those time release pellets I believe & is suppose to be shaken on the soil, which will provide nutrients only when watering & not very controlled for MJ, like a powdered form of MG or any nutes that can be dissolved in water. the little dropper feed, have no clue what that is, so not sure, just doesnt look like something again that is condusive to growing MJ.

Looking good for one week.

Throw the soil testing kit away; or use it for the yard.

Focus on your setup. Lighting and ventilation. The more light the better.

Eventually you will need a timer.

Find some one-gallon containers. They should get you to the mid-to-late vegetative stage without having to transplant. Then go for three-gallon containers.

Don't worry about the fertilizers you have selected. They are just fine for a first grow. As you gain experience you will refine your selection of ferts.

Thanks man for commenting on my grow photos. I'm not literally using the MG shake and feed yet but the Shultz I have heard very good reviews. I agree with the stretching and I just lowered my light about 2 inches away from each plant. If you would recomend a soil to use that I can Local pickup that would be great. Not trying to spend $40 on Fox Farm though.

Thanks man for stopping by and commenting. I will get on that with the one-gallon containers. If you know any links with cheap timers that would also be great. Also, if you recommend a certain wattage for those 2 plants that would help out a lot. I'm going to try to stick with Cfl's, simple because there inexpensive and they last. Anymore tips would be helpful, or a link to a nice grow setup that would be manageable to make.

Any timer will do. Although I have learned a nice heavy-duty timer will support a surge protector, and thus will control lights and fans together.

There is nothing wrong with CFLs. Add as many as you can.

I am reluctant to comment on exactly how much wattage to add without knowledge of your set-up.

Enclosed? Mylar? Etc.

I'll definitely post pictures of my setup tomorrow and actually I hear anything white such as computer paper or white paint is a better reflector than Mylar, correct me if wrong.

I would change ur lighting to 18/6. not only will u save electricity costs, u will give plants much needed downtime, of which they tend to show the most growth during this time.

u have a lowe's by you? for my last grow I used lowe's moisture max I think it was called, mixed with perlite, spagnum moss, & vermiculitte, very successfully & great drainage.

I swore off MG when I got fungas gnats & then I find out I guess they commonly seem to come w/their soil, uggh. They r not fun to deal with, I would advise against the soil. I have used the ammendments successfully made by MG, like the perlite, spagnum moss, vermiculitte, but any brand of those, cheapest will do, if u found others.

I'm new to growing for myself, but helped friends with gardens in the past, so I do have a little experience.
I agree the plants are stretching. Get the lights closer to plants.

Also agree with comments about 18/6 - every living organism has a down time. Everything needs to sleep at some point. I've read a number of articles that suggest good root development is key to good bud production. I'm sure I also read that root development takes place primarily during periods of rest. The leaves are resting - and the roots are growing when the lights are out.

Sorry I couldn't get to uploading new grow setup, but thanks for all the comments everyone. I will have the new grow box up tomorrow if I can. Its on 18/6 now because the bigger one stem is literally to weak to hold it up. I'm putting a fan on for at least 8hrs a day to strength stem. Any help of holding a stem up would be great.

Alright grow box will be up within the next couple of hours. Btw the little plant isn't doing that great, it hasn't grown much at all and it doesn't look that great. The bigger one is getting bigger by the day, stem is in better shape with the fan running 24/7. I will update pretty soon here so help me if you know why the little plant is doing this.
