Anecdotal evidence AND a declaration that you'd rather "let 'em die" because it's cheaper? Tell me, is it cheaper overall? If 85% of Americans have health insurance and they pay an average of over $6000 for healthcare each, is there any savings at all when you let the rest die? Universal systems cost per person is half ours, is $6000 x (.85 x 300mil) < $3000 x 300mil? Nope. Sure, that's a crude calculation but it is pretty clear that by that measure it's def. not cheaper to simply let the poor and disabled die because they can't afford care. In fact, by that (again, crude) calculation your only proving my point further... Care will be cheaper for all, if all have access to care.Mayo serves the Elite? My out of work neighbor went to mayo, he makes 9K a year. Elite indeed. I know several people who have gone to Johns Hopkins, I must run in some elite circles.
Dead people cost way less to take care of than the living.
Do you believe we should have any form of universal healthcare? If not, great - you have a (minority) opinion. If you do, what other ways are there to provide affordable, universal care? Other countries have shown us the way, why should we be so hesitant to help our less fortunate?
