550W Led vs. 20x Green-o-Matic Autos

What up nwi, I've been wondering about LEDs too but honestly, after the little research I've done I would only use one as a veg light. But then again I don't think I've ever seen a 550 LED so I'm subbed

Yo Beans...yeah I have seen some decent shit been grown under LED but only with bigger panels than the usual and it seems a few of them for that total overlapping saturation story.

In other words buy 2 or 3 or 4 big panels and viola'....aka Irishboys threads, good stuff but he had 750-1000+ watts of LED going.

The guy I bought this from has guaranteed that this panel will produce equal results to 750W-1000W so I thought it best to try it out.

One thing I will say is if you get the distance from the canopy right then it may well do that but finding that sweet spot is the difficulty, and I don't think it is just a matter of having it as close as possible, I have seen how the plants lurch away from this thing if put too close, so it is pretty fucking powerful, maybe it's in my head but the UV gives me headaches..

impressive... he uses only one LED light for veg and flower..

ken of trugrolights in my grow room the leds work real well i run 4 300watt leds and one i put together all crees you can run on 110v or 220v what is best for you in the flower room i found out with 4 600watt leds small buds but more thc looks like snow on plants to get the big buds i went to 4 600watt leds and 2 1000hps you put the plants under the leds and finsh under the hps take the glass out of the hoods for less heat run a fan to the lights my flower room is 25x30 my veg is30x30 i have no heat i use all the lights i sell im my rooms have a good day kentrugrolights

sup NWI ... i myself am 18 days into flower with LED grow. little flowers everywhere =)

im using hydroponic flood table and have a 18" scrog goin with 2 357 magnums over a 4x8 table....not enough light...ordered another 500 watter to sandwich in the middle hoping the brings the par up and stops the stretching...i think it will...only getting mad stretching outside the footprint where they have to reach for light. ii have been hanging them at 22" over the canopy to increase the size of the coverage area and am still seeing penetration and rapid growth. when the buds get bigger and my new lights arrive im going to slam them down to 10" though i think and see if its enough coverage. watch out for stretching though cuz itll separate the bud sites too much to let light down to the lower stuff....waste of grow space. alsoo ive found that it pays off to keep a steady breeze going on them...i think the LED light promotes thin/ wirey growth and wind will thicken up the stalks and allow more water to the canopy. this is just my theory. if anyone disagrees holler at me.

Holler! I am seeing super stocky stem and nodes every .25-.75". My plants are wider than they are taller. This is under an ISIS-FX1 running at full spectrum 12-15" to canopy.

Thanks for stopping by bro, so far I have not had any stretch but I have placed them pretty much within a 2x3 space whilst they are still smallish so the nodal growth has been great. As soon as they get too crowded I will spread them out further as and when they need the space....problem is that it is easy to do whilst they are in the hugo's but if i put them into the flower rooms then the spacing will be un adjustable which is the only problem but I gotta say that if you are needing so many panels now it makes me wonder what the point is from a leccie point of view.

Here is an image of the flower room so that you know what i'm talking about.

awesome....like i said i think its lack of light as well ...i think another 500 watts will solve this "problem" i got them rather close together and dont prune much of the canopy just lolli-popped em a bit and took a couple lower fans.

what you mean?
What are the true wattages of these panels you are using? When you say another 500 watts do you mean HPS or of LED panels? Because most LED companies tell you the wattage rating of the diodes x the # of diodes and give the result as the wattage rating (even though most LEDs are only run at half their max wattage, and some 3/4 so a 3w could be 1.5-2w in use).

People might be thinking you are talking about more power than you are, and you might have less LED power than you think. Most people think they have more LED growing power than they really do. You shouldn't need to keep adding more lights unless you over estimated their abilities (because you were mislead on the wattage) or the panels are just not very good for flowering.

Well how many watts are being consumed if you have a 500 and 2x 240's, I'm not knocking it at all but it is a lot and probably every expensive to purchase. I suppose in an ideal world I would want a 500-600W panel to just destroy like a 600 would in a 4x4 but i am wondering of that is enough right now...

I think a true 500w panel from a good company could handle a 4x4 just great. With the best LED panels I think you only need 30-40w per square foot of floor, and a 500w on 16sq feet is like 31 so it would be very appropriate in my opinion. Even a single 500w panel from a good company would wipe the floor with any 600w HPS, but you could do even better in that 4x4 space if say you bought two 250w or 3-4 150w or something (the more the light is distributed the better). To cover a 4x4 tent will cost you up to $3 per w, so expect to shell out $1,000 - $1,500 to get about 500w of good LED panel/s in a 4x4. I wouldn't ever go more than 65w per square foot of floor, I have a true 395w in my 2.5 x 2.5 x 6ft so that is about 62w per sq ft and its definitely excessive
I agree about the idea of a few panels to create a bathing of overlapping light, i suppose time will tell..about 5wweks or so. Funny thing is when you are used to using hps you feel the heat, the power etc. and get used to it then along comes the LED and it feels almost weak but it is obviously a very different type of light to what we are used to you know. It just atkes getting used to and once one has good result under the belt then all questioning goes out of the window LOL.

Have you looked at mine on the website, it is a true 436W i think. Have a look if you dont mind and tell me what you think. So far \i cannot complain to be honest.

the panels im using now are 357 magnums. the actual draw is less than that ya. me saying im adding another 500 watts is just the rating on the blackstar i ordered... when you talk about 600 watt panels you arent talking about the draw...just the combined number of 3 watt diodes?

well its going to be like this:

^^ [357 mag]^^^ [500 blackstar] ^^^ [357 mag
|________________4x8 table___________________|

and yes its @#$%ing expencive but i think its nessesary to grow big....i have my plants pretty close together though
