They're germinated, but should I plant now or wait?

Hey guys, first off, I know I'm probably overthinking this but its my first ever grow

Anyways, I've germinated 2 big devil #2 autoflowers using the paper towel method.

They are on hour 40ish and its 10:23AM right now (BC, so pacific time).

Anyways the taproot for one is just popping out, just a little tiny white tip poking out. The other ones kinda larger probably 3-4 centimeters long so around .2 inches?


Anyways my dilema. They're both pretty small the taproots, especially the other one. But since I am doing an outdoor grow heres my dilema.

1: I can plant right now (well in a few hours, at around 1pm or so) But are the tap roots big enough? Or should I let them germ more? The temperature here falls pretty drastically, like heres today forcast: sunday 22celcius (71 f) to a nightime low of (51 f). I'm just scared if I plant them now I'll somehow fuck em up cause the taproot hasnt developed enough and I somehow stunted the grow with the low temps.

Option 2: I let them germ for about 8 more hours (48 total). The taproot would probably develop some more. But this would mean I would be planting at around 6 PMish just a few hours before the night and temps drop.

Option 3: I let these guys germ for another 24 hours (so like 64 hours total) and then plant tomorrow at around 10AM. I'm scared tho that by this time I might start rotting the seed/root in the paper towel as I've heard that happening and read the best thing to do is take it out as soon as it sprouts?


Also, when I do plant outside should I cover the area with a plastic bottle turned upside down to make a mini greenhouse when the plant is just starting? I've read you should do that as it helps keep moisture and heat in.


Anyways, sorry for writing an essay on a probably be very obvious thing but eh, just like most newbies I'm probably over thinking.

option 4: fill a cup with your dirt and let them start life inside your house then transplant when you feel they are ready. just a thought

But then I'd need to transplant and I read that transplanting autos is a bad idea cause of their short growing period (these guys like 65 days seed to harvest) and that transplanting stunts them to much. Tho if I plant in the original container (they're fairly large as I am using whats available) I could move them in for the night. Cause I'm growing on my deck. Think that would work? So should I just put these bad boys in the dirt in a few hours (gotta do a few things first) then just move em in for the night?

BC eh??? you must be further north. its a little warmer here. you can plant seeds directly outside butyou will want to use many because its not the best germination method. even if you were to plant those seeds in a cup under a small cfl for a week you will be just that much better off when transplanting, and when you transplant dig a large hole, at least 3x the size of your container and fill it with the same media you were using it will help with the transplant shock, and depending how long you let it veg inside you may or may not need some type of humidity dome , let it go for a week and get a couple sets of leaves then throw it outside, should not need a dome by then. thats just what i would do

Yep good ol BC I'm actually in southern bc on the island around the 49th parallel. Basically, the shitty thing is I need to grow them outside - I cant even use cfls for a week or so. I think I'm just going to plant the seeds today and make a makeshift humidity dome. I think I should be able to sneak the plants back in for the night for a couple days atleast. So I guess im going to be planting directly in 3 gallon pots that should do it.
