hey every one so i need some help. i have 6 plants. 4 are 3 days old and 2 are about 11/2 weeks old.all in coco.im using general hydroponics veg for the oldest ones and none for the others. i have a 400mh with cool tube with a 440cfm sucking the heat out. i been learning through trial and error but i realise this could take a while lol. so i was wondering if a few people could tell me exactly what they do for the first few weeks such as week one no nutes week 2 veg nute pmm 200 water once a day. you know i need specifics what the ph of the runoff should be what the runoff ph should be. i'd really appreciate it rep for anyone who even replys with help.

hobbit- use very little nutes, the plants still need some if they got 3 weeks but the salt build is causing a lock out so just go with low amount.

DM- you can use a low amount of nutes on those young plants since they need some kind of nutrients to really grow and coco doesnt contain any. go with like 2 ml per gal of the GH grow and they should react fine to it. the week and a half plants could be up to like 4 or 5 ml per gal. im not one who checks PH and such so i cant help you there with specefics but if the plants are growing and are green then everything should be in place.

I figured this'd be the place to ask.

Anyone had any experience mixing coco with FF Ocean's Forest to use as a grow medium?

I've realized that the FF soil by itself seems to retain water pretty horribly (at least in the small cups I have my plants in now). Though when I mix a 1:3 (noir and soil, respectably) it seems to retain water almost perfectly.

I'm skeptical with using Coco just because I don't own an Coco specific nutes. Though I will say the stuff works wonders at starting clones. I've had 100% success cloning in coco, wish I could say the same about cloning in soil!

i did answer...

George- if it works more power to you. i also hated the retention of FFOF, always seemed to drain before it could fully saturate. i think youll be fine using any nutes since its not pure coco. i use General Hydroponics which isnt designated for coco but does work just fine, in both soil and coco.

KEV- keep us posted for the dry weight!! looking DANK!!

9oz dry, my best result yet with a 600 lol. Not on the same level as most of you guys but i'm getting there :).
My last 3 grows i've planned to scrog them but ended up(because i'm bloody lazy sometimes) letting them veg to long and get leggy.

Not this time tho :), forced my lazy ass to build a screen.

Cheers.

9oz is a damn good harvest to me! how many plants was that? and how long was the veg?

wow kev that looks a bit more than 9 oz but still a good harvest. its a very clean and nice set up, the screen should work out great. what are you planning on running in there? should be good with just about 3 plants. is that a 4x4 tent?

quick question, my ec run of in coco is .3 and going in at .5 is this correct? could some one please tell me what i need to do to increase ec befor i water? it says on container it should be .6-1.2 but i dont no how to increase the ec. thanks

i dont use PH or EC or ppm but it would make sense to me if you raise your ppm than your ec would go up since there are more conductive elements being added to the solution. are you seeing problems with the EC where it currently is?

i thought ec and ppm where the same thing, and no i just started using it so im just working out a rough gauge, i think it would increase if i used the reccomend about of nutes, but im fairly sure the run of water should be less cos it means that the plants are taking up the nutes..is that correct?

yeah i would assume run off would be lower for the reason you said plus its getting absorbed into the medium a bit. ppm is parts per million of a specefic nute in the formula and ec is the electro conductivity of the solution i think. i dont use either so im not an expert on either but after a couple readings thats just what i get out of it and for what the abbreviations stand for. for some reason i have it in my head that PH is replaced when checking EC but i cant be for certain. if your not seeing problems then it seems good to me!
