CO2 Questions.

Im wanting to use CO2 but neither have money nor space for it so was thinking about using one the the DIY setups but have a few questions.

1) Do i only use the CO2 when lights are off?
2) Can it harm my plants if they receive to much CO2?
3) How long should i keep it in the room for?
4)If there is any problems will it destroy my plant or will i be able to save it?

Thanks

Im only on my 2nd grow so am no way an expert,

i have herd plants can take 70/80% more co2 then they recive naturally in the air,

lights on would be the best i think as the plant use this to make food during photosysisis which happens during the day, taking in co2 an giving out o2 in return,

i htink they reverse the process at night during lights off but on a smaller scale

i myself have a homemade diy yeast co2 system an i just leave it bubble away 24/7 an change the ingredients when they run out or the bubble counter is getting too slow

i dont think this can harm them but thats just my Noob opinion, wait till u here from sum1 with exp

yes you can poison your plants if the ppms get to high. you want to run it with your exhaust fan off while the co2 is emitted. also you want the temp of your room to be a little higher for it to be affective around 80 to 85

only run the c02 when the lights are on unless you feel like wasting it
Hey thanks for the info, would it be adviseable to leave it in for an hour or two then take it back out, the temps are slightly high as it is and i'll turn the fan off during that time.

Cheers +rep

i would put it on a timer every hour have it come on for 15 mins. you should have a regulator. try to make it as air tight a possible

is CO2 effective during flower? I wouldn't be able to use a timer or regulator as it would just be a bottle with Yeast and sugar.

1: Only when lights on, plants can't intake co2 lights off.
2: Yes plants like a steady ppm of 1200-1400, 1500+ can poison your plants not to mention yourself. Your DIY setup I wouldn't worry, that won't put out enough ppms for any toxicity to your plants or yourself.
3: I run co2 thru harvest.
4: I think the only problem you'll encounter is that DIY co2 setup dealing with yeast and bs. A regulator and a tank is less than $300, I highly recommend this route, DIY setups are hassles and waste of time and money.

Yes this is the most important time for co2 enrichment to promote larger and more vigorous growth. Yeast and sugar method, clever, but non effective. :-(

yeah the yeast and sugar or how ever people do that is for really small grows. i really dont think its affective at all. if you have a grow area that is 4x4 or smaller i would get a co2 boost bucket. it omes with a pump on it allready and a timer. its gud for 3 months from the day its manafacured

Its not the right way to do it. My co2 is on a atmosphere controller with a ppm monitor, my fans a controlled to come on when too hot, then turn off, then co2 on, then exhausts spent co2, then repeat refreshing the room ensuring co2 levels are optimal in my sealed room. Explain how you could do all of that with a bucket, I'm assuming hes in a closet or something equivlent..? Co2 enrichment is worthless unless your environment is near perfect and sealed. Those co2 booster buckets are a gimmick and are non effective, I imagine they put off a foul odor as well. Co2 enrichment is for experienced growers who have the financial backing of atmosphere controllers, monitors, fans and OWN they're house or have a real bitchin landlord.

Cool dude, whats the pictures for? Does that validate your opinions and posts? Or whose got the bigger dick, regardless I will agree to disagree that those buckets are waste of money and non effective for any grow space.
