The buds are getting so heavy, I have them staked up and supported with zipties (as you can see in the last picture) - This is a finicky strain, but provided I can keep cruising as I have been I can get some late flower swelling that good indoor blueberry haze is known for. Right now, when pruning, if I brush the back of my hand on a nug I'll get blasted in the face with a smell of fruits and spice. Almost garlicy. Gotta love hydro :)
 
Haha, yeah :) Unfortunately I do not own a macro lens at this point. I never fell in to a photo-niche that required one... Until now :) So, instead of grabbing a cheap one, I'm saving up a bit. This was shot with my Canon 50mm 1.4 lens on a 60D. Most of my levels are corrected on the histogram prior to taking the shot, but it still doesn't make up for not having a macro lens. This lens is for human sized portraiture- I'm just cropping a small portion of it's 18 megalpixel resolution to achieve a faux-macro shot :-X

Well with the 18 megapix body and the 50mm you can def play around with crops and still get semi-macro images. Yeah, that lens is really great especially for outdoor portraiture of human subjects. I see now that that's not really lens flare but bokeh of something shiny in the background... But the effect is still creating that same lens flare geometry.

Killer. If and when you plunk down for decent macro glass, you'll get those pro quality 'High Times' shots for sure.
 
Thanks! Recently began running a mid-late flower bulking formula of mine. This stuff works great in hydro if you've ever been slimed by molasses or organics. On top of that, plants in soil don't really require much else and will produce strong and vibrant growth with this food supplement alone. For some reason, it seems to absolutely eradicate pH fluctuation issues I incur late flower in DWC. I'll do a quick rundown as to what I go through to make this.

Dsmoke's 'home-made' super-tea concentrate for bulking and resin production. ​

Ingredients:
  • Unsulfured Molasses [5$] - 1 Cup
  • Advance Nutrients Mother Earth Super Tea (Bloom Formula) [25$ for 1 liter] - 2 Cups
  • Humic Acid Derivative (5-7%) [Flavorful or Liquid Karma ~20$] - 1/4 Cup
  • Water - 2 Cups
  • Total cost: 55$ for roughly 5 batches = 11$ per home-made bottle = Cents per feeding = Growing the dankest organic flowers at a sensible cost.

Preparation:
  1. Grab a sturdy jug larger than one liter. The one I use is two liters.
  2. Pour 2 cups Mother Earth Super Tea, and 1/4 cup Humic Acid Derivative (Liquid Karma or Humbdoldt's Flavorful) in to your container.
  3. Bring two cups of water to a boil in a pot over the stove.
  4. Once the water is boiling, move pot off of the hot coils, and stir in 1 cup Unsulfured Molasses.
  5. Stir the thinned molasses until completely mixed and allow a few minutes to cool.
  6. Mix thinned molasses in to container and mix thoroughly.
  7. Store somewhere dark and cool.

Molasses Tea Super-Food Concentrate Application rates:
  • Soil: Mix 1-2 TBS (15-30ml) per gallon and feed alone. Don't PH if using tap water from 7-7.5
  • Hydro: Mix 1 TBS (15ml) per gallon in to nutrient solution and run as needed.
  • Shake well - In soil, alternate with feedings of plain water - Completely organic. Safe for all stages of plant growth

This should make a very very light tea when applied at the directed rates. Will not bubble in hydro. Absorbs well in soil and is taken up by the rootzone easily.

This is a pretty great way to feed your plants a good heap of molasses without gunking up your system. No more slime in hydro, and all the great sugary organic goodness. The MEST is a great food source as well, and works as a great buffer for the molasses. This makes a really good standalone food supplement for flower in soil. I haven't tried running it standalone in hydro but I have no doubt your plants will show no signs of deficiency provided you're running tap water or a cal/mag with RO. The Humic Acid will help stabilize the pH and will send your root-zone in to a feeding frenzy.

Check back here in a week to see the results of this stuff mid flower.

Edit: Note- My feeding rates are very light. If your plants are very hungry, and you wish to up the dose, feel free to do so. This stuff is not hot, and there's no reason you will not experience great results.
 
So it's day three or so running my bulking tea, and the results thus far are amazing. Buds are starting to split, and should be compounding on top of each other within a week. Resin production is starting to take on an end-game look to it, which is always a good sign. Fan leaves are being consumed by a marching army of trichomes. I'll hold off on pictures today so that the results can be truly seen tomorrow.
 
Not really. It's all there. I figured, instead of feeding them all three individually, why not make a concentrate? Molasses is a huge bitch in hydro if you don't thin it and attach a nice buffer. This method works, and it works great. Figured I'd share it :) Makes mixing a charm and will help you stretch your nutrients for a very long time.
 
Wow, thanks for the great recipe ds! You called it a "mid-late flower bulking formula", it may be a stupid question, but when is it ideal to start feeding this formula? Either way, I'm a few months off. Thanks man, can't wait to try it out!

It's kinda like what I do with the GH crap. I mix the desired ingredients and quantities in a half a jar of water adding that concentrate to the actual res water. But what you're doing is a bit more creative.

Honestly dude, I feed my seedlings a very light strength mix of this from time to time and they love it. You can expect great results using continuously. All of the ingredients can be purchased at WeGrow off of Fulton ave. You can try any other hydro shop, but they for sure carry it. I used Grandma's Unsulfured Molasses which can be bought for a few bucks at any grocery store.

On top of that, Advanced Nutrients Mother Earth is some really great stuff. Works great with the molasses. Top it off with a bit of Humic Acid and your plants will love you. I use Humboldt's FlavorFul, but Liquid Karma will work just as good.

I do that too, after adding this concentrate to a jar with water. It's still very syrupy, as you can see. One part molasses and two parts water is still a bit thick, so adding the other ingredients acts as a great buffer and it doesn't solidify or settle. From here, I dilute it and add to the reservoir. It's just this way, I'm not diluting three things at their own measured ratios. I have done the math, and made this simple recipe to feed my plants everything they need at the correct amounts with a couple tiny scoops per feeding. In you're using the right soil mix, this is all they need in flower. In hydro, I feed on top of Botanicare's CNS 17 line. I get to feel like a mad scientist once in a while, to avoid doing it all the time. No one wants to mix and measure a million things every time they go to feed. I've simplified that for myself, and created a complete organic concentrate that makes growing with molasses simple and clean. Obviously anyone can make their own nutrient mix and throw it up here. I'd be glad to know that at least someone takes my idea and simplifies their routine through their own personal concoction. That aside, I've gone through the trouble of dialing it down, and anyone interested is free to have the blueprints. It's a cheap way to grow organically- Win, and win.
