Yay or nay for Miracle grow

I agree with what father was saying about.MG is a great soil for those who know what they are doing and are really on top of how your plants look indicates what you need to do.Its more for expirenced growers I think.I only use MG moisture control as the rest dont seem to do well at all.I find the buds that are produced are really tight and full and quite large. The high is a great stout high but as in all grows a correct flush has to be done.I only use ph 6.6-6.8 water up until about week 1 of flower then I like to do a real heavy water to help flush alot of the nutes from the soil.I do a 2 day heavy flush which will wash alot out of the soil.I then let it dry well and around week 2 they start getting a mixture of a very light peruvian high phos bat guana tes mixed with a resin booster like Im using sugar daddy this time and then I will add 3 doses the last 3 waterings of Humboldt count's gravity to harden the buds and make them swell to a very dense rock nug. Here are some pictures of where these plants are in regular moisture control MG soil with nothing but ph water. They are just finishing week 1 in flower in these shots and doing quite well. They may look a little droopy as the lights just came on in the picture and temps are getting hard to keep above 64 F as outside temps stay around -20 to -30 f so I consintrate keeping the pots warm at constant 68 with emergency blanket and waterproof heating blanket ubder that and black 3 mil plastic..17 plants under 1000 watt hortilux super spectrum bulb..They are doing quite well in the MG in 3 gallon buckets see hte size of the fan leaves..

Thanks I just wanna show I dont agree with the bad rap people have given MG as long as it MG moisture control it works great just use that ph 6.6-6.8 water and watch your plants

It really all depends on what type of MG you use and how well you grow. I simply won't use another form of MG in my life, its just a personal preference due to all the problems I've personally seen from their soils. Some types produce terrible gnats, some produce nute burn, others have poor ph and drainage. Just some pictures of plants I've found on this website who's culprit was MG with time release nutes in it (no extra nutes, no other changes that could have caused the problems):

One second: Technical difficulties

After reading through this thread, seems there are 2 threads inside it.
One on MG soils
And one on MG nutes.

Seems soil is ok
Nutes can do a LOT better.

Pretty much sum it up?

I am using MG Soil and its working perfectly fine for me and for MG food it works awsome to for what my setup is

Why did you edit your whole reply? And your new one doesnt sound very convincing. Whats the N-P-K of your nutes in the soil? Can you tell me this?

MG works great for me.. i only have one question... how hard is it to flush a plant thats in MG?
the longer you grow your plants in the soil then the nutes that are in MG soil will go away over time but you might be able to flush the nuts out of the MG soil before you sue it

I use miracle grow plant food , says on the bottle for noticeable more blooms
I use it 1/4 strenght. doin the job for me.
YAY
yea but I am using Nurseryland nutes but I have red the directions on MG nutes and well I find that now my plants are 3 months old (fed them 1/4 strength today and fed them on feb 15th [the first fed I did]) and I find that some of my leafs look like they are getting the nutes sucked out of them so I have to feed then 1/4 every wattering because I have 10 to 20 new branch growth so I can't just feed them once a week or even once every 2 weeks

i have fox farms ocean forest and was wondering if perlite will be needed later on in veg. stage?

The seeds just sprouted out of the soil and I figure the soil has enough nutrients for them right now ( i have fox farms nutrients too....when should i use them? ) but was wondering about using perlite for drainage / airing possibly when i transfer them to a bigger pot?

Thanks

I wouldnt use MG nutes but the moisture control does its job.Heres a few updates on MG use

Earlier you said you used MG medium and nutes?

ya i hear ya...should be two different threads because some ppl are talking about MG soil and others are talking about MG nutes.
sounds like MG moisture control soil is the only thing that works great on weed. FDD also uses the MG moisture control on some of his plants, and i saw the pic and they huge and healthy. interesting thread. :peace: lots of controversy.....:blsmoke:

Definatley yay, i use miracle grow seed starter lightweight formula with phosferus beads for fast and strong rooting. its works great!

MG potting soil with time released ferts gave me tons of spotting/nute block after 2 monthes of great growth...had to flush for a week to save them....i now use fox farm potting mix and add worm castings with no problems...risk it if you want...

mrhas did you use moiosture control MG and what ph water did you give them. Water should be at 6.8 and no nutes at all til 2nd week of flower then you can up the phos and pottassium
