I always hear people say that if it was legalized everyone would just grow their own pot. I grow my own pot and it is NOT easy to do, especially paying attention to the plants daily to prevent disease, overwatering, underwatering, nutrients ect. These people would instead by from growers who are masters of their craft (like all the people today who grow for profit and actually put the work into ensuring its quality). In other words, the growers in states where its illegal ect will be a leg up on producing quality safe cannabis to stores and to clients if that becomes legal. Sure there will be a hell of a lot of cheap crappy weed out there, but the people who want the quality from experienced growers is a huge market share of the future legal pot smokers industry.
Me personally, I just love growing and my ideal job would be working behind the counter of a dispensary if they ever become legal here, because my passion for strains individuality would allow me to help the customer choose the perfect strain for their needs and wants. I used to do that in highschool when I worked at a video store (remember VHS?) I was always able to refer our clients then to the movies that fit with their favorite movies. I just love helping people and wish with all the knowledge i've gained on marijuana over the past 2 years i'd be able to help people if it were legal. I don't need the money and I really need the marijuana for digestion and calm my anxiety, so I don't deal. I don't even own a scale which is why I never list yields, I don't want a scale because then people would ask me to buy weed and i'd have to be a dick and say "Nope, I don't sell it." and get them all mad. "i don't have a scale" acts as a "I can't give/sell you any weed because I don't have a scale and don't want one." I had one friend bugging me to sell him weed once. So I said "Fine, that will be 3 million dollars for an eigth." He said, "Thats stupid, i can get weed cheap thats quality from my dealer." So I said "then go to your dealer cause this is a bad deal!"
I must be a rare breed because most people I talk to all want to make money on marijuana, but for me that just isn't a good risk/reward type deal. Especially cause when I didn't know how to grow weed I spent a ton amount of money on weed.
My ranting point? Legal Cannabis will mean Good steady jobs for quality growers because it will always be in demand, and people are willing to spend more for quality. Legalization will help almost everyone who works with passion on marijuana in todays environment.
