Trying My Hand At Glass Pipe Making

Yesterday I made a few Sherlocks for an order (unpictured) and two more slide toys......... One is a *gigantic* Martini slide. It'll hold around 2-2.5g. The other, with a black ground joint on it, is going to be for an oil dome. Since its hard to understand what the oil dome DOES, I pictured one a friend of mine made so you can see the missing pieces. You just remove the dome, heat the skinny glass nails head up, put the dome back on, and drop your oil in and bubbleeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss......

Yeah I've seen those oil domes before. And the ti skillets and vapor curves. I've also seen the Health Stone Pipes and slides. Those look cool but I'm not entirely sure how well they work. Haven't heard any reviews on them.

Yeah I've spent a lot of time on aqua labs lookin at there oil stuff..

I'm finding the longer my oil sits in the dish, the more potent its getting.. is that normal?

Around post 500 or so-ish we had some pictures of titanium nails. Those are THE BEST way to smoke. They are easy to clean, have a high melting point (3500 (F)), and will last *forever.

The glass nails are the next best thing. I've watched everyone make the glass nails and made a bunch of them myself. They arent realy *hard*, its just a tiny piece of road with a few dots so it doesnt fall through the slide and a bevel at the top. They are also HORRIBLY mis-designed.

So, what I do to make them *waaaaaay* better is to use a tiny bit of a flared out blowtube and attach that to the nail at the top. It gives it a thinner and more naturally wide funnel which holds more oil, doesnt let any drops spill down, and takes a lot less time to heat the nail up. I'll show some pics soon as I make them, I had one from earlier and I dropped a chunk of 50x5 tubing on it and shattered it. Oops :)

Oil should remain just as potent as when you made it, with the 48 hour exception rule. The tiny, tiny pockets of butane will boil out over that long and the lack of any butane left makes the most potent oil. If you hold your bic to the oil and it makes tiny little sparkles and pop noises, there's still butane in it. Fun though isnt it, Wood? :)
 
Lear made this for me and dropped it off yesterday. he laughed inside as he watched me load up my first hit. it was a HUGE dollop. it went down sooooo smooth i didn't even think it melted, until i exhaled. massive cloud of smoke. it took 2 mins for the choking to begin, then it went on for 5 more.

i now take little tiny dabs. ;)

i LOVE this thing. it was the last method i had yet to try and i'm sticking with it.

That's some milli'd action right there opals and the whole shebang! If it knocks you on your ass, that's pretty wild. Your can hold your oil. :)
 
Definitely one of the coolest oil pipes i've ever seen


I love the fish...

Yeah I been lookin at those too. Eventually that's what I want but its like 80$ for the cheapest one, that's without the bong. Just the ti skillet

I never liked how dishes were so small. It seemed like most just held a few grams. These you can use a cork on and hold about 20-30 grams or so. They are wide mouth not tapered at all so it should be easy pickins and easy to flame the top of it so everything stays off the inside sides. They are always for sale. :)

Ya, I know. Just thought it funny that some rasta tube stock made its way here after all that fun. Figured, why not? :)

Yeah I see what you mean. I don't know if I would load up 30 grams of oil into one dish though :lol:.... like the saying goes: don't put all your eggs in one basket.



I like the shallower dishes, makes it easy to see your oil and almost display it... yours are almost like oil bottles or something :) very cool & unique

researchkitty, your work is clean, if you can get your wigwags a little tighter and closer you could be making some high dollar pieces. ill post some of our work at studio broadway, as soon as i go to work tonight ill take pictures and post them
