this is exactly what i like to do.. i used the thin steel wire to wrap around the pots, and used the bread bag ties to attach the plant to attach the branches to the metal wire..yup, just watch how tight it is on there, i use whatever i can find at times.. i prefer bread ties because they have the waxy plastic or paper coating, but i do have a spool of steel wire i cut up into little lengths and they work fine. I have had them cut into a couple of stems before, but it was a little too tight and the stem still carried nutes where they needed to go
i have some eye hooks that you screw in, and attach them to the top rim of the pot, i use soil tho,...this is exactly what i like to do.. i used the thin steel wire to wrap around the pots, and used the bread bag ties to attach the plant to attach the branches to the metal wire..
definitely like this, next grow im gonna try a scrog for sureI built scrog around my rows of plants, then when I transplant to final pots I plant them pretty much sideways, with the broken up root ball in the hole and the plant laying on the scrog. Pics are better than words:

I posted some new pics a few days ago that show how well it works.
I recently discovered something similar that I really like. I had this spool of steel wire in the basement. No idea what it's used for, but it's about 20 guage. I can cut any length and bend a "J" on both ends. Hook one on a stalk and the other on my scrog. Even 3 foot stalks can be bent over easily..no tying or twisting. Just dangle the wire down and hook it on. Reusable.
The only concern I have is the bare steel. However apparently such wire that is plastic or vinyl coated is available too. If anybody wants pics of the method I'll oblige but it's pretty simple.
