I Need A Relay

I have a chhc-4 environmental controller and I am popping the circuit its on. I'm running a 10,000 btu AC, a dehumidifier, and a water pump hooked up to a natural gas water heater. I am familiar with the principle of a relay switch, but have no real life experience with them. I want to put the AC on its own dedicated circuit and run it through a relay plugged into my chhc-4. I guess it would be a 120V 15amp spst?

Is there a readily available product I can get and just plug in? Or will this require some wiring? Where do I purchase such a thing? It seems like everyone running a large AC on an environmental controller would need something like this, but I can't find any information or products at all.

Yes I like it. The reason I got it was for co2 controll, as the other functions can be replicated at a fraction of the cost. It functions as it's supposed to.

yeah, it mounts to the outlet box, wire a plug to the white/yellow &white/blk wires to plug into your controller and treat the yellow & orange wires as a switch to the outlet.

Nice. Can I find this product at a retail store? I would rather buy one asap than wait for shipping. I can't use my co2 generator until I get this hooked up.

I asked a guy that works in the same building as me and he happened to have a piece that's exactly what I need. 110V to the coil 20amp spst. It came out of some machine, not sure what. He said I can look up the wiring diagrams on the companies website with the serial number. All I plan on doing is getting some extension cords and chopping them up and wiring them into the correct spots, wire all 3 ground wires together and connect to the metal frame, and enclose in a box. He said it's a $150-200 part and you can't buy them at home depot, you need to go to a special electrical store, but I could have it for free.

I can't believe they are that much money. There is nothing to it, it's just a damn switch. I also can't believe there is NO application for an item like this in a residential or marijuana grow room. That just blows my mind because I happen to need one, and can think of several other scenarios where someone would need exactly this thing.

I've been running the Sentinel MDT-1 timer and CHHC-4 for a month and I blew the power supply in both already. It had nothing to do with my circuits as my breakers never needed to be reset. The MDT-1 had one 1000w ballast plugged in and the PS blew. Sentinel sent me one through the mail. A week later and now the CHHC-4 controller just went dead out of nowhere. I have my hood fan, sentinel c02 regulator and 70 pint dehumidifier hooked up to it. Have you had any issues like this? The unit is a month old and I paid close to $600 for it. I've heard nothing but great things about Sentinel which is why I went with their brand, but so far they are working against me in the worst way imaginable...

Damn I wonder what could have caused it. The temp of it's room is 85 constant, but that shouldn't cause the thing to go dead. Only thing I can think is my dehumidifier is too beastly for it and fried the power supply. Still doesn't make sense. I'm using it how it's supposed to be used. If I get it fixed I'll go without hooking up the dehumidifier to it and use a normal outlet for it. Gah...

Best of luck man. Thanks for the info

I don't know, they are made specifically to operate a dehumidifier. Maybe you just got unlucky and got a faulty ps. I hooked my co2 up and the combination of the 10,000 btu AC, 70 pint dehumidifier, and 1/4 hp pump (to operate natural gas co generator) was tripping my breaker. Once I reset the breaker the chhc-4 works fine again.

Now I am having trouble with my co2 generator, so i'm putting the relay as a second priority until I get it running again. Doesn't make sense to spend my time wiring up a relay when my co2 doesn't work.

Could be a faulty controller but now my MDT-1 went dead again last night. That's the second time in 2 weeks that I blew the power supply. I have $800 worth of brand new Sentinel controllers and they're both dead. There has to be another issue that I'm not seeing. Maybe my wires aren't the right gauge... that's the only other thing I can think of. Like I'm restricting the volts going thru so it's causing the power supply to overheat? I'm an electrical noob so I'm not sure if that's possible.

I ended up buying 2 cheap timers from Lowes today. Going to give them a try and hope for the best. As for my chhc-4, no clue. I need to wait for Sentinel to contact me back about the support ticket I submitted.

I don't know the first thing about your c02 generator or I'd try to help man... I have a 50lb c02 tank that is noob friendly lol

why not just set the temperature on your AC and don't plug it into the controller... I have a pimp conttroller as well but my dehu and ac have their own controls so no need to plug them into the controller.

Well for me because I am growing in tents. I don't really care what the temp is anywhere but inside my tents, so I use the chhc-4 to monitor everything inside my middle tent. Plus I have different day/night settings for everything.

I can't find any info about this thing. There are certainly more than just a few places to attach a wire, and I can't tell what leads to what.
